Problem with the display!

I have just recently started having problems with my DCR-HC36's display. On the LCD screen and through the lense hole it appears that there are five horizontal lines crossing through the picture. I know there is nothing wrong with the video because I have viewed these videos many times and there has beent nothing wrong with them, but as of lately it will not provide the whole picutre of the video and it will not allow it to do it when I hook it up to my television.

Heres an easy solution.
i just called the repair service and this is what they got me to do;
Step One: rewind the tape to where it has the lines
Step Two: Turn Camera Off
Step Three: Remove The Battery
Step Four: Turn Camera On ( with no battery )
-wait for about 5 minutes-
Step Five: Put The Battery Back In
Step Six: Turn it on and press play

if that dont work, you will need a head cleaner or a new head

Are you trying to transfer video via usb? I recently found out from Sony's website that vista does not support video transfer over usb. You need a fire wire or iEEE cord. Check if your computer has the port to support this.

How to switch from pal to ntsc

Camcorders have only one color system to record accordingly, either PAL or NTSC
Sony DCR-HC36 is NTSC camcorder and DCR-HC36E would be PAL camcorder.
Hope this info will help you.
Thanks.
