Can not print frommy printer eror stating wrong cartridge
Refilling cartridges sometimes damages electrical circuitry on the inside end of the cartridge. Carefully clean- barely touching the wires, then restart printer and then install the cartridge again. If you went out and bought new cartridges, make sure to reset the printer before expecting the error message to go away. This is why they recommend NOT refilling more than a few times per cartridge- the electronics wear out.

My Printer has been working Fine...While Printing...the Printer stopped and Displayed "Wrong Cartridge"....Called Canon Tech support....They had me remove the Printer Head and Clean the "Gold Tabs" on the Head.....This did not solve the Problem.....Then he told me I had an Internal Problem with a "Chip" or something like that.......Then they give you a "Discount Code" to purchase another Canon Product to replace the old one.
Have same "wrong cartridge" error. No solution yet.
exactly the same problem Tom in Vancouver
Smae problem here, suddenly it just started to say "wrong cartridge" nothing works, ive buy some new original cartridges, but hell no. same old message "wrong cartridge". warrany is of course out, and called canon support but they sayd thed i could be an internal error i dont know what that could mean, but he said that i could get some disqount on the next printer from canon... yeah right, im just so eager to buy another printer from canon... i going to buy a new printer, but canon i s hell no! Same problem here-and NO SOLUTION. Cartridges are the correct ones.
After this, I would never purchase anoth Canon.
I bought my Canon MultiPass MP730 All in one about 4yrs ago. It's well taken care off and used lightly. All of a sudden I got this message 'WRONG CARTRIDGE'. Local dealers for Canon products are at a total loss. I just don't know what to do. I paid $3500 TT$ for it from amazon. Now it seems like I have to purchase another printer. I feel robbed since I definitely did not get service for price from this product!
Yep.... Just happened to me this morning. My Canon Multipass 730 has wsorked fine for four years. Never seen that 'Wrong Cartridge" message until a few hours ago. Repalced my ink cartidges with new, exactly what I should be using -- still "Wrong Cartridge." Turned off power, then on again - SEVERAL TIMES - nothing. Sorry about your problem everyone, but I'm glad I'm not alone. Farewell Canon? Any suggestions? I don't take Consumer Report anymore.
I have the exact same problem! For years my Canon mp730 has worked perfect, now I have a "wrong Cartridge " message and the printer will not work. I shut off the printer and unpluged it for days and then tried it again but still the same message, what should I do?
Same thing...I've had my printer for more than 4 years. It was working great. I used it yesterday and all of a sudden I got the "wrong cartridge" message...
same proble-Wrong cartridge error.
awaiting solution
Exact same problem! We've had this printer for a couple of years and have had no problems, until today. Please, somebody tell us the solution!
Same basic problem as those already described.
Though I don't know if there's a connection, mine started after I replaced an empty yellow cartridge. The new cartridge was a Staples brand, but I've used them before without any trouble. Nonetheless, I bought and installed a complete set of Canon cartridges. It did no good; I still get the "error in cartridge" message, alternating with the usual message when everything is working well.
Judging by the age of the printers mentioned elsewhere -- around four years (which is the same as mine) -- this sounds like something has worn out in the machine. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Tony

It keeps saying "wrong cartridge" even though i have the rec. canon cartridges installed? Any help please
wrong cartrage
same problem with error message "wrong ink cartridge" ... have tried all others solutions mentioned, so will try now to clean contact with alcohol on cloth, and may try blowing in ink cartridge in little hole with a straw as described on anoher website ... printer has been a workhorse for four and a half years ... only other problem has been error message "ink pad full" about six months ago (got info and solution online and "fixed") ... more "planned obsolescence"?
I have a MP730 cannon that displays WRONG CARTRIDGE. I have cleaned the printer head, turned off the printers several times. I still get the same error message. Help me!!!!!!
I have been refilling my own cartridges with canon ink with no problems but when the black magenta and yellow all went empty at the same time I got the error message wrong cartridge. I refilled all the empty cartridges still the same error. I bought all new cartridges and installed them, still the same error. I removed the cartridges and the print head. I cleaned the print head with the cleaner that comes with the ink kits, let it dry and reinstalled all with the new cartridges. Still have the same error.
Help please.
Mike
I love my Canon Multi Pass MP730. But I can't do anything now because it says Wrong Cartridge. I walked throught the error with Canon and it is something that they say I have to take it in and I don't want to wind up paying the same price I paid for the printer. I love this thing and don't want to give it up yet. Anyone have a less expensive solution??????
How do I reset the printer to make the error go away?
The printer was working just fine before I got this error. I had not changed out any cartridges. I don't want a discount code either. If it can't be fixed I want an HP that works, not another Canon.
