How do you use this steam buster?
Step 1 - fill the rear tank with water. Clip the tank onto the back of the unit.
Step 2 - plug the unit into the wall.
Step 3 - move the switch to "steam". You should hear the unit 'ticking' at the rate of about 120 clicks a minute (2 clicks a second). The clicking should be "kind of" loud until the water makes its way into the pump.
The clicking will get quieter as the water moves through the pump and into the heater. The book says that you should start getting steam in a couple of seconds. My experience is that you don't get a good head of steam up until the unit has been going for about 20 seconds.
Another recommendation: don't use "Spray" until the steam is really rolling out of the unit. It just overpowers the heater and slows your steam production.
Step 4 - Steam the spot you want steamed. If you want to soak the spot, use "Spray". Most of the really good cleaning power of the unit is through the steam, so use that more than spray.
Step 5 - Switch to Vacuum and **** up the moisture from the steaming.
Repeat Steps 4 and 5 until you're happy with the cleaning.
Step 6 - Empty the front tank, rinse it out. Empty the rear tank; you probably won't get all of the water out, but that's not a problem. If you use tap water, put in a couple of teaspoons of vinegar and let the unit run until you've sucked the last of the water/vinegar solution out of the tank. If you use distilled water in the rear tank, you might be able to skip this step.
Step 6 is intended to reduce the amount of lime scale that will build up in the pump over time. You should probably avoid stronger chemicals, since they are going to sit in the pump until you use the unit next, and the first few seconds of steam on the next use will have whatever chemicals you are using.
