Looks like we got disconnected during our chat session. I still think it may be those bulbs. If there was any kind of surge, it could have taken them out. I'm looking for specifics on the lamp though. If I find anything, I'll post it here.

If the screen is too dark on the TV or the brightness keeps on continuing to change then the problem here is with the Energy Saving mode settings. By default the TV does set the Energy Saving to Auto, which means that the TV will automatically by it's self does adjust the screen brightness depending on the brightness of light it detects.
Sounds like screen voltage has exceeded much. Its LOT adjustments should be checked. Contact any service technician.

There are two small holes on the rear side through which you can adjust focus and screen. Use a flash light and locate the two adjustable slots inside the holes. This part carries high voltage. Do not use a metal screwdriver to adjust. Put the TV facing a mirror so you can see how it works. Do not turn more than 1/8th of a turn. The focus control makes picture sharp or fuzzy. Screen control could change brightness. While watching the picture in the mirror, slightly adjust the screen control. Do not turn too much. If it doesn't work, then call a JVC authorized repair center.
this is what i think you mean, if i diss-understood you (thought you mean something else) im sorry, then i dont know what to do thats when you set your ti 84+ screen to very dark. this is how to solve it: go and open mirage OS, and then just press the "-" (minus) button. the screen should get lighter.
I happen to have an Acer Monitor although a later model. It has 4 buttons....one of these is the auto adjust and one other is the window that has manual controls (so to speak). If you look at it carefully...(and it should stay on the screen for at least a minute - they believe you will do something in that timeframe)...you will find a set of icons at the top. These are suppose to be visually intuitive (and they are after you have used them once or twice)....anyway, if you really want to set your colors manually and or make other adjustments....alignment et al...you use the other buttons when the manual control screen is there. Experiment a bit and you will discover what does what. FYI...all "modern" monitors have this ability....the icons differ....but autoadjust does the best job in general....personal preferences and eyesight withstanding. Good luck....a small glass of wine sometimes helps the process and reduces the frustration level the first time around.
