Uninstall old Adobe Reader, do a search for all "Adobe" files and delete them. Go to the Adobe website and install the newest Adobe Reader 8.1 program.

The reason why it will not uninstall is because it is not in there try to reinstall it by going to the Adobe page here: http://www.adobe.com and download the latest if you are still having problems it will be your installer youll need to fix that.

Try downloading Revo uninstaller (free) uninstall Adobe reader I presume we are talking just the reader, typical Adobe is very big so more to go wrong. follow the instruction, the beauty of Revo is that it uses Adobe to uninstall then it jumps in to remove Adobe leftovers in your registry, hopefully this way it will bypass "patch cannot be verified"
Download Foxit Reader it only ways in at 10Mb
I presume you checked with your IT dept?

Have you already installed the program? Have you gone to add remove programs and tried uninstalling the program then re-install it? 8.1.2 is out so here is a link to the full install. Can't upgrade adobe reader from 7.0.5 to 8.0.2. says that i need to verify the patch package

You may have to do a clean install instead of upgrade. Download a copy of ver 8 from adobe.com, uninstall ver 7, and install ver 8.

My Adobe reader 8.1.1 will not open. I get error message that the patch package file is damaged and cannot be fixed. I am unable to uninstall Adobe Reader 8.1.1 and cannot Install 8.1.2 nor any patches....

Hello there.
This problem happens often. Please try the following steps to resolve the issue.

1) Restart your computer.
2) When the machine first starts again it show some white text on a black screen, before the Windows logo appears. Gentyl tap the F8 key repeatedly _before_ you see the windows logo until you are presented with a Windows XP Advanced Options menu.
3. Select the option for Safe Mode using the arrow keys.
Then press enter on your keyboard to boot into Safe Mode.

Now that you're in your computer in Safe Mode, go to your Control Panel and select Add/Remove Programs and chose Adobe Reader 8, which should uninstall properly now.

Hope this helps.
