Here are the step by step instructions: 0. Put your ringtones in the local folder: \Application Data\Sounds 1. Go to "Contacts" 2. Select the contact you want to add a ringtone to 3. Click "Edit" (the left soft key below the screen, it will be the one to the right of the Home key) 4. Scroll down to Custom Ring Tone 5. The ringtones you placed in the folder should be listed

You have to do so directly from the Contact list. I've also found that you have to save the mp3 file to the internal memory rather than an external storage card.

How do i change my ringtone on palm 850 treo

Changing your ringtone should be easy. Select Applications > Preferences > Sound. Click on the TONES selection. You can set Known Caller ID and Unknown Caller ID. If you want to change your ringtone to use MP3's , then you'll need a program such as CallFilter, Lightwav or Ringo

Press menu,go to settings. In the settings it will say phone settings, press select. It will then say phone profiles press select. There will be different settings in this bit normal, silent, car etc. Yours should be set on normal. Press options then edit. In this bit there is call alert, you want message alert scroll side ways to message alert press options then change. It will give you two choices. You want use my alert tone press select. When you press select there will be all your mp3 music there. Don't know if you can use one of them for your message alert, but I know you can use one of the 20 tones which comes with the samsung steel. To add a specific ringtone to certain callers. Go to the persons name you want to have a ringtone for, press options, scroll down till you find move to phone, press select. It will move to phone and will say ok. Find the name in your contracts who you have just moved over to your phone then press options scroll down to edit there will be along list there with different options. Scroll down till you find caller ID then press options. There should be all your mp3 files. Choose which one you want from there. Hope this has been some help for you.
