Here is the process for troubleshooting this specific issue:
First remove your disc from the tray. I assume you have already done this.
Ensure your faceplate (the front of your system) is on correctly. Sometimes these can become loose and off kilter. Press the two edges firmly with your hands and "push" it into place.
Push the eject button. Although it hasn't worked in the past, adjusting the faceplate may correct the issue.
If that doesn't work, move the disc tray drive gently from left to right when it is open. Again, be gentle-- what we're trying to do here is slightly adjust the disc tray in case it isn't entering your system properly.
Still not working? Time to send it to Microsoft for repair. You can find all of that information on their official support site. Click here for more details.
The best way to resolve this problem is to replace the entire drive - you can get a replacement drive online. Use Google to find several vendors to choose from.
It sound like the laser lens is trying to focus but cannot and thus you hear the lens rubbing against the disc - this can ruin many of your valuable games you have recently inserted in the drive. DO NOT INSERT ANYMORE DISC INTO IT!
If you are comfortable with taking apart your system, I would advise taking the case off and then finding the dvd-drive, removing the case on that and simply tightening the screws on the tray. Don't tighten them too much, but make sure they are snug. Then test to see if it still wobbles and it should be fixed. If you are not comfortable with taking apart your system you will need to find a repair shop that can do it for you. Please rate, thanks!
It sounds like you will need a drvie replacement or motor. Sometimes the magnetic disc on the motor comes loose and it sticks to the top of the dvd drive cover and causes it to not function. We can fix this for you if your interested email us. [email protected]
Is it making the noise like it will open then getting stuck? If so, this can be tricky! It happens with me sometimes. Press the open button and as it goes to try and open push the disc tray in slightly and up and it should pop open, it does with me anyway.
