Question about ViewSonic 19.0" VG910B 1280X1024 TFT LCD (Silver/Black) Monitor

Open Question

Monitor Problems Hi I have ecently bought a second hand computer. When I plug in the monitor to the pc direct via the analog plug everything works fine with no graphics card in the pc. When I insert the graphics card (I have no idea what it is as!) and plug either the analog or digital cable into the graphics card the monitor (viewsonic lcd vg910b) it shows no signal. When I plug both into the graphics card the monitor flashes up really quickly with something that looks like G-Force FX...) and then goes black with lots of thin vertical purple lines and doesn't change. If you have any ideas i'd really appreciate it.

PLEASE read Carefully so here is a fix for the green blinking light ...the monitor is going into shutdown....protect mode......THIS is ...Only for the seasoned electronic service tech ......YOU NEED TO BE into Electronics ..or have electronic background and know how to solder to do this........I been doing repairs for 30 years now ..............After extencive troubleshooting and replaceing a lot of electrolitic caps on the inverter board and spending about 10 hours doing so ....i decided to eather go for broke and blow this up more or trash the unit......................Well my blinking light deal went away...my monitor you could see it trying to start and just shut down............first of all make sure you have no broken solder work on the inverter board or swelled up caps ...Thay use lead free solder so the solder work sucks also...........I did pull the main buss line from the inverter pc board that runs the transformers to test to see where the trouble is.....found its at the high voltage end of the inverter board and The viewsonic 922 uses a protection ic on the inverter board and it tells the controll ic whats the High voltage status of the inverters.....I soldered a 47uf @ 25 volt cap on pins 7&8 of ic-u2 [ bi3101a ] Pin 7 is posivtive pin 8 negative of the cap.... and then soldered pins 10 and 11 togeather on the other side of the ic.......ITs fooling that ic telling the main controll / protect line thats all is well........I would guess the whole deal is LOW inverter voltage or maybe a surface mount device thats going to go........could be low resistor tolerence also............The monitor been working for a week now.........Always on.....anyways........YOUR problem may just be bad solder or bad caps...........if you Have a electronic background or have a friend that works on electronics have him look at the caps.see if any or swelled or rounded on the top of the caps..Also chect the main plug that goes to the LCD backplane to make sure its in correctley................if all that checks then the problem is ON THE INVERTER BOARD ONLY ......befor doing what i have done......I also have a Viewsonic VA-800 that had some of the same problems also ,but it had a lot of lines on the video.......I replaced the,,,,, 2.2 mic @ 50 volt cap in the middle of the main board on it and its still running.....but has about 3/8 of white traces following all the words on the desktop...[[[ anyone that knows this fix i would like to hear from ]]] ..........NOTE if you dont know about electronics...dont attemp any of this......their is a lot of voltage on the inverter board........my answer is that these monitors are JUNK...poorley built units.....

you're video card is failing, try the secondary port if you have one, artifacting such as different colors, shapes and lines are VGA related, you need a new VGA card and for more info contact http://tinyurl.com/m7ghqz

Go to the setup menu on the LCD panel by pressing button 1 on the front. See if there is an option to reset the lcd to factory settings. Reset it and report if it helps not.

SOURCE: vx1932wm-3 monitor has stopped working properly,it

I had the exact same problem. It's a bad capacitor on your power board. It's most likely the 1000uF 25v one towards the center of the board. I noticed it on mine because the top of the capacitor was pushed out more than usual and it has some residue, which are signs of a burnt out/bad capacitor. (WARNING: There is a risk of electric shock when opening the power supply unit. Leave the unit unplugged for at least a few hours before working on it. Proceed at own risk!) Read on for a fix:

1. In the back, remove the stand screw covers (x2) to access and remove the stand screws (x4).

2. There will be a single screw under where the stand was attached on the screen. Remove it.

The LCD/unit is sandwiched between the thin faceplate and back cover, which are held together by several clips:

3. Carefully pry and remove the faceplate with a flathead screwdriver or other flat tool.

4. There will be 2 screws holding the button circuit board in place. Remove the screws, unplug the small cable from the board, and remove the board.

5. There are a few clips towards the bottom that hold the back panel onto the LCD frame. Pick at those until you completely remove the LCD unit.

6. Remove the 4 side screws holding the LCD panel to the frame.

7. Carefully disconnect the 2 sets of wires and the single ribbon cable from the LCD panel, taking note of their direction.

8. Remove the 4 screws holding the large power control board in place, and disconnect the 2 cables connected to it (the smaller cable disconnects from the power control board, while the larger one disconnects from the other end).

9. Locate the faulty capacitor and take note of its direction/polarity (+ and -). Use a powerful soldering iron to remove it from the board. I say 'powerful' because I could not get the factory solder to melt with my Weller at full 850 degrees. If you can't get it unsoldered, you can CAREFULLY pry it off with some pliers. If the connectors remain attached on the board, pry them off as well.

10. Put in the new capacitor ($1.73 at Radio Shack), taking care not to bend or break the leads and taking note of its polarity. Trim the excess lead wire off and carefully solder into place.

To finish, follow steps in reverse 8 through 1. Plug it in and test. If all is good, it should remain on. You might hear a tiny high-pitched sound when there is no signal or screen is idle. This happens with mine, but should be no cause for concern.

Hope this helps and good luck!

I have a tv monitor samsung B2330HD and i bought an hdd WD Elements 500GB but when i plug the WD via usb, it doesn't recognized. Why is that?

Do you have a USB cable that goes from the monitor to the PC? Have you tried plugging the external drive into the PC directly? A TV for a monitor is just that; a monitor. It's not a PC, the USB port on a monitor is just a pass through to the PC. So unless you have a USB cable from the monitor to the PC it won't "see" it.

LG screen goes in stand by. I was using two monitors for several months, everything OK, now I decided to get a new LG Flatron instead of one of the monitors... and only this one goes in safe mode!! Two...

oke having a similar problem atm, this is what i have found so far. was trying to help a friend who has bought the same 19" LG monitor. When i connected the monitor to her PC i noticed that it was not the same connection as the previous one but it had the smaller blue connection..this shouldnt be a problem but it was. The monitor when powered up, showed LG logo then went into power saving mode. My next step was to try the monitor on my own PC to make sure it was working, When i did this the monitor got a signal but on the initial boot it did say that this monitor was not compatible currently the way i had it set up ( where i had it plugged in? the only place it can be) because of my graphics card. oke so atleast i knew the monitor was working and was recieving a signal.

the only difference i can see is when i put it in her PC it is not giving me this information which also did give 3 steps to solving the problem but didnt seem legit. the next step i will take is to try my monitor on her PC although im not sure i expect it to work.

i think it must be a) PC is now faulty or b) PC is not sending a signal to the monitor ( possibly due to the fact it is not the same connection as before.)

what i have seen on other similar posts says you should also listen for your PC starting up normally.

another thing i would like to know i think it can be usefull for this topic. are the people who are experiencing this problem in the same situation as me i.e. changing the type of connection used by the monitor from the larger to the smaller type?

id also liek to note that the monitor i have was bought on a tight budget from PC world.

only other help i can give to people with this problem is that it is much easier to see where the fault is when you have 2 PC's and 2 monitors i know this is not viable for many but if atall possible interchanging parts with the PC that is working correctly and the one black screening can help you see exactly what the problem is,

as far as i know aswell the main reason for a monitor to sleep is that its simply not getting a signal from the PC BUT on rare occasions it can be a fault in the monitor. IF you have another monitor with the same connection that you can get yto work on the same PC its the monitor with the problem, if u have a monitor that u know is working on another PC with the same connection but is not working on the PC in questions its a PC fault.

sorry for the jumble of words in this answer i tryed my best to explain, all my knowledge of PCs is from friends and self tought so ... hope it helped

VGA connection works, DVI does not

Everything seems perfectly normal...

When you connect the computer to the monitor via an analog VGA cable, you get signal on the analog input.
When you connect them via a DVI cable, you feed the monitor's DIGITAL input, so the monitor doesn't get any signal on it's analog input, and informs you about it.
You have to select the digital input from the monitor's On Screen Menu, and then start the computer up - you should see the picture OK.
Also remember to set the display resolution on your computer to match the optimum (native) resolution of your monitor - this will give you optimum picture quality. In case of VA712B it will be 1280x1024.
Good luck and please come back with a testimonial if helped.

Monitor boots ok, then "Analog" appears/monitor shuts off

Does it have a digital port being used? If you are using the DVI port, it is probably digital. Try using the menu to selct the port. If it doesn't work, not sure from here. What is the model number?

Samsung 226bw weird display problems

At first you should clarify if your GPU or LCD is broken.
Do You have any chance to try another monitor with your Graphicadapter or to try your monitor on a different PC?
Moreover you should try it with a new cable.

The symptom of weird symbols sounds most likely like a overheated or wrong-plugged Graphicadapter

Drivers for the Acer LCD monitor X193W under Windows XP Pro.

The acer LCD monitor is plug and play. You don't need a driver. But unless you have a graphics card that supports at least 1440x900 you have problems. Also if your card has a div connection, use that instead of the analog connector, The monitor comes with that connector. Use the old one to connect a second CRT monitor if you want. Don't connect both to the lcd monitor and to the computer unless you are using a second monitor. Like everything these days, every purchase seems to need an upgrade of sorts, On board graphics **** anyway. Buy at least a 128 MB graphic card with a digital connector and more RAM never goes astray.....

Analog power save mode

Are you connect via Analog (Blue VGA connection) or DVI (White Digital connection?

If you are connected via DVI, then you have to change the input select button to DVI

If you are Connected VGA, make sure the system doesn't have 2 VGA ports. If it does, connect to the other port.

Samsung 940mw intermittent power...

I don't have a solution but would like to compare information as i just started looking into this problem myself. 1. I bought my Samsung 940mw in March, 2006 but didn't start having problems with it until around April, 2007 2. I'll be using it as my pc monitor when the screen goes black and the power light stays solid green. The monitor doesn't respond to the remote control. Nor can i manually turn it off via power button BUT i can restore it by a) turning power off at the UPS outlet it's plugged into b) removing the monitor cable from PC port c) restoring power and waiting for the Samsung diagnostic message about no monitor detected then d) plugging the cable back in. My monitor image reappears. 3. fyi I only use the analog monitor input. Samsung also released a new driver which hasn't made a difference. Within just last couple months the monitor will sometimes just go black a coupla seconds and come back on without any intervention
