Remove the memory stick then.. i have encountered the same trouble, defective memory card or card not properly inserted causes the unit to stall. A defective or loose function switch is also possible. Sorry i didnt get what you are trying to do with the camera. my english comprehension...
I assumed you have done that already, automode of course lets the camera adjust by itself, everything is by the unit command, the advantage is alll shots are good.
Me too sometimes get confused, thats why we seek help from other, good thing there's fixya!

thanks for the try, but i'm not trying to tunr the osund down on the tape, I'm trying to turn the sound off for the function buttons. Like when you tunr the camera on and off theirs a tone, i want that off. I cannot get menu to work when camera is in the the play position and the video mode is set to memory. the documentation specifically says this will work. Camera is in Auto mode during this time.
I do not have a SD memory card in the camera. Do you need the camera set to manual mode? I currently have it on Autom mode?
yes once I read the instructions correctly I got it. I was reading the Video and Memory mode as the manual and auto mode..boy do I feel stupid..once I set the cam to manual mode I was able to achieve to results I was looking for and got the correct menu screem
