We unplugged the unit and waited 15 - 20 seconds and plugged the unit back in, and it wouldn't ... He heard a loud high-pitched whining which led him to TV in my daughter's room. ... It only makes a humming sound now, no pictures at all.Missing: ear piercing

Hello, I hear this constant high pitched noise, almost like ringing, but even ... pitch
When I turned my GE35GT695 off last night, I heard a loud pop. Today when I turned it on using remote, it made another loud pop, followed by a continuous, high pitched noise with no picture, only black screen. TV will not turn off with remote or front panel, so I unplugged it. When I plugged it back in later, it made same high pitched noise and no picture. It's about 12-13 years old. Anything I can do, or is it shot?
