Question about Frigidaire GLTF2940ES Front Load Washer
Help!!! I have laundry piling up.. I have seen a wiring harness that is not connected to anything at what I think is the control board..but I'm not sure if it is supposed to be hooked up or not. This harness comes from the motor. The machine is counting down but that's about it. It doesn't spin but does drain. Ray
OK, I had an awful unbalanced load that was banging like crazy for about 5 seconds before we hit cancel. After that the machine wouldn't rotate at all in any cycle.
After opening it up and checking the belt, I found a wire harness just siting there unconnected. Now sometimes machines have unused harnesses but clearly this had to be it. In my case it was a 5 wire harness coming from the top of the unit (control panel).
It turns out this was knocked off the motor control circuit board from the motor banging around. I could see impact marks on the white plastic housing of the control board.
From the back, undo the one screw on the L bracket holding the white housing in place. Then gently ease the housing around the motor just so you can access the top better. You won't be taking it out, just twisting to a better angle (you can, but no need to disconnect all the other wires). Lift the housing lid and you will see a another wire harness on the right side next to the green ground wire that goes to the motor. The loose harness goes right on the circuit board edge - you are not looking for pins to connect to like most harnesses you may be used to. You will see an indent for this 5 wire harness in the middle of the circuit board, so snap it over with wires towards motor. Close up the lid and reinstall the white housing back into place, making sure to get the leg clipped under the sheet metal on the front side.
One important note - the circuit board map on the printed troubleshooting sheet says this hardness goes on J3, but the correct spot on the circuit board says J2. J3 has 7 connection points and is actually not used. Nice one Frigidaire.
I actually did this twice because the first time it didn't work. The second time I just made sure I pushed ALL the connectors I c ould see in nicely in case there was a bad connection. And that did it. the machine and works fine.
Mine was a Frigidaire LFT2140ES3, but I woudn't doubt that this could happen to other models.

You were spot on with the washer control cable. I also noticed the motor harness snap was loose. so I checked the connection. That 5 pin cable is retained in place by the plastic top covering the PCB assy. Good call.
I also have a door interlock problem since day one. But I get around it by pushing the right side of the door with my knee.
I have a serious rust problem below the door. For durable goods you'ld thing these things last longer. Also the mildew problem with front loaders...
thanks again\

Hey friend, thanks for your inquiry!
I see your Frigidaire washer is displaying an error code "e5e". However, it appears "e5e" is an invalid error code. Let's attempt resetting your range. You can do this by unplugging it or flipping the household circuit breaker to the off position for roughly ten minutes. This usually clears false error codes.
If resetting the power does not correct the issue, could you please inform me of the new error code or if your dishwasher continues to display "e5e" you may want to seek assistance from a professional for proper repairs. -Matt

Hello barnessursula - Typically error code E5E indicates that there is a communication problem. Base on the intensity of the issue, I suggest contacting a professional technician to accurately repair the unit. Technician will need to check the wiring between the main control board and the speed control board. Depending on the diagnoses and if the wiring is bad, it has to be corrected. However, if the wiring is good the main control board will need to be replace or if the problem is not corrected, the speed control board will need replacing.
