Blue Convergence wont move left and right

Near the middle of the chassis inside you should see two large metal heat sinks---the chips(2) are black and about 2 1/2 inches wide x 1 1/2 inches tall and should have the STK-392-110 NUMBER printed on them in white.

The hard part of this is first you have to unplug several cables so you can get the entire chassis tilted up so the bottom of the boards face the back of the set. You have to unsolder all 18 pins on each chip AND 4 metal pins on each heat sink--when you replace the chips(apply heat sink grease to them) the hard part is getting all the pins on the chips and the pins for the heat sinks lined up so they go back into the board.

Then holding a heat sink and chip in place solder each chip/heat sink back in.

IT IS A VERY GOOD IDEA WHEN YOU REMOVE THE CHIPS TO CHECK ALL THE DARK GREY RESISTORS AROUND THEM---most are 1.8 ohm 2 watt---they can be checked like checking a fuse--if one of them is open you will still have the same problem if you do not find and replace it---they are protect parts---if one is open--one of the chips got it.

After you replace you can go into the TECH menu and fine adjust the convergence--you can do the same in the customer menu but the TECH menu offers more places to adjust and saves these adjustments---I have instructions for getting into that menu if you need them.

If you can do the repair yourself you can save a lot of money as most shops get 300 or more for this type of repair--a pair of the chips can be bought on Ebay for about 12 dollars plus shipping.

If you have any questions or need advice reply to this posting here.

Blinking green light of death on Mit WS55513. Changed the four 1000uf (35) capacitors on the DM board and it still won't work. Nothing has changed. Any help? Thankyou, [email protected]

THEY are green and look like 1/2 watt resistor but will have amperage marked on them and the board--there at least 2 of them near the caps--if you need a photo of what they look like [email protected] chips will not cause the set to not boot up (the green light blinks and does not stop)

I do this here for free so if this information was helpful give me a vote here--good luck---if you cannot fix the receiver the only choice is to contact PTS electronics--you can ship it to them for repair/rebuild---part no longer is available from MITSUBISHI.

No picture, no sound, error code 7

Sounds like one of two problems

1) Convergence chips are shorted....One quick test is to desolder and remove both STK392 chips....then power the set on. If the tubes light up the chips were shorted. You can get new ones from www.TvRepairKits.com

2) Another possible problem is a bad HVG - AKA the flyback.

Try the convergence chip test first. Note: On some Philips sets you can just unplug cable "1516" instead of removing the chips.

For instructions on how to find/remove cable 1516 visit the website listed above and click on their tips page. On that page click on the "Magnavox DPTV3xxx Checks" link.

No power up red light

The symptom you have should be addressed by a qualified -technician. However, the most common cause is either a convergence problem or fluid leaking onto the picture tube socket or the chassis. To check for a convergence problem remove the back of the TV. Typically on Akai the convergence board may be mounted above the chassis. Look for any big aluminum heat sink with a pair of large IC`s (STK-392-040) screwed to it. Mark and unplug the power connector to the board (the red molex connector). Plug the TV in and turn on the set. If the set comes on replace the convergence IC`s and check all the 3.9 ohm (orange, white, and gold stripes) resistors on the board. To check for a fluid leak remove the lower front panel of the set and look for any moisture on or around all three picture tube sockets and the main chassis. If there is moisture, it is necessary to repair or replace the seal, wash the board or chassis and repair any damage from corrosion.

Convergance chip

Thats the regulator chip for the convergence circuits thats the one youre most likely needing, as your chassis doesnt have convergence ICs. You can get that IC at the following link and they will provide free installation instructions and free on line tech support just in case you need assistance. Here is the link.
