Red light keeps flashing on toshiba theatre. How can I fix it?

on the older sets it is a short and usually in the convergence circuit, the way to know is located the convergence chips and unsolder both from the board (18 pins each) and if set then comes on (WILL LOOK BAD) one of the two chips is bad and both need to be replaced----should be stk-392=110 chips.

Power board has been replaced with a new one. Power light comes on and then just blinks. No picture or sound from the TV. This set belonged to my daugther and it just quit working. She got a new one and I...

Hi jblake4900,

First, please double check if the part/board no. (SSR-9010A-M2) is the same as the original one. If yes, then other parts gone bad also aside from the power supply board. This is caused by faulty convergence chips (STK394-250) on the deflection board (part no. SSR-2510A-M2). Your unit used two convergence chips that is mounted on the large aluminum heat sink behind the flyback transformer.
I would advice you to replace both the convergence chip.
You need to prepare the following :
1. Necessary tools and test instrument2. Soldering Iron3. Desoldering pump4. soldering lead5. Thermal paste.6. 2 pcs STK394-250
Soldering Tutorial
How to desolder parts on the board

Let the unit unplug from the outlet at least 1 hour to drain the voltages from the power supply board. Familiarize all connectors (take a picture of it if necessary to guide you replacing the connectors).

Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Hope I helped you.
Have a nice day!

I have sound but no picture

I have fixed many rear projection TV's with this problem. It's most likely the convergence chips/board. Which would require either you to replace them (About $75) or call in a repairman to fix it. (It can get real steep, real fast! About $350)

Check this manual to see if you can test your convergence:

Magnavox 55" rear projection tv

It is probably your convergence chip.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the tv settings then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move them up, down, left, and right.

If you can't move them in all directions your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

Here are some of the most common symptoms.
Screen looks 3D
One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
Screen is bowed in but stationary.

Solution:

You need to replace the convergence chips and convergence resistors. Check the site http://www.TvRepairKits.com . They have put together a kit for your exact model. The kit includes a photo instruction guide, original Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, etc. Everything you need to fix it yourself.

Hope this helps,

Convergence problem then no power up after replacement

Check to ne absolutely certain that all the wires are plugged back in correctly, also if the wires are correct check the resistors near the convergence ICs one or two of them are likely open as well.

No power after replacing convergence chips

Check the pins on the convergence ICs to make sure the solder isn't bridged between any two pins. You will need a magnifying glass to make certain.

Hitachi 43FDX01B

You likely have a fuse bad on one of the supplies to the convergence output IC's.  check EP96 and EP97.
