Bravetti 35-396 Power Hand/Stand Mixer Logo

Question about Bravetti 35-396 Power Hand/Stand Mixer

1 Answer

Bravetta mixer I have a practically brand new mixer. The second time I used it my sister caught a spoon in the beater and it broke the beater. This has virtually made the mixer useless unless I can find a replacement beater. Can't seem to find this part anywhere. Maybe I can have it welded? Any suggestions?

I, also, broke the beaters to the Bravetti stand mixer, practically new. I called the toll free number that you listed and it seems to be not a working number. Please offer a solution.

The head on my mixer will not go back

Hello,

Note, electric mixers are great to have around, whether the stand or hand-held type. For those of us that use one on practically a daily basis, here are few instruction below on how to fix an electric mixer.

Instructions

  1. Unplug the mixer before attempting any type of repair. If the mixer has a lot of batter and food on it, clean the appliance. A lot of times while using the mixer, the ingredients can work their way up the beaters and make their way into the gear section where the beaters attach. This can happen especially when mixing bread dough, cookie batter or any dense or heavy ingredients.
  2. Refer to owner's manuals when fixing an electric mixer. If the mixer stops beating when it's turned on, it could be that the appliance isn't getting the proper voltage. Test the mixer using a voltmeter. If the mixer is getting the proper voltage, it could be that one of the gears are worn out.
  3. Check the wiring on the mixer. Look for any cracks, tears or exposed wires. Sometimes just using electrical tape to repair the cord is all that's needed.
  4. Take out the screws from underneath the head of the mixer using a Phillips screwdriver. Next take out the screws on the back of the head of the mixer (some brands have these, others don't).
  5. Grasp the head of the mixer and gently pry off the housing with a large screwdriver. A slot screwdriver is preferable. Clean out the area with a soft cloth and look for any broken parts or wires.
  6. Go directly to the website of the brand of mixer you have. Most major brands will offer advice and suggestions for proper maintenance.
Good luck and thanks for using fixya.

Beaters will not move

You have probably stripped a gear in the gear housing. Here is the breakdown of the gearbox:

The newer "more improved" mixers use plastic gears and they can't take the beating, no pun intended, and fail.

The good news is that the most likely gear to fail is cheap. Here it is on amazon.com:

Middle better comes loose

Try placing some "braces" rubber bands around the shafts of the beaters. This should tighten the hold of the shaft with the mixer and keep them more straight.

Wooden spoon killed the motor!

these mixers use an electronic triac(to vary the speed of the mixer) of such low amperage that they run hot normally(to wear OUT), and they don't fuse the units electronics or motor anymore so anything that binds them will short out the triac or motor winding(from heat) and make them inoperable, try and order(what they call) an internal electronic part from these companies and good luck, I tried for 3 months and told them what I needed, they agreed this part was defective, but they wont sell you an internal part(LIABILITY ISSUE) unless your a "company certified technician" go figure, I finally got one through N.T.E.semi-conductors. and my customers HAPPY NOW!!!

Professional 600 - makes loud noise when mixing, often stops as it blends 8 cups of bread flour and "needs a break", flat beater seems to get caught on bottom of bowl - this mixer is 1 yr. old!!

Several things:

The Professional 600 has a metal gear housing with a metal gearing. Because of this, the Professional 600 will generally run louder than other stand mixers that may have a nylon/metal mesh gearing.

How long is the bread dough being mixed for? Kitchenaid stand mixers must be used on speed 2 for bread doughs, using the spiral shaped dough hook, and mixing for no longer than 7 minutes.

If the flat beater is getting caught on the bottom of the bowl, pleasure assure the bowl is being seated correctly. You will place the bowl on the mixer arms on the left and right hand side. You will also want to take your fingers along the back of the bowl, where it butts up against the base of the mixer, and press downward. You will hear an audible click as the bowl falls into a spring latch and allows the bowl to sit flush and secure. If this is not being done, the flat beater may strike the bottom of the bowl.

If this was not the cause of the problem, please consult your Use and Care Guide about the beater to bowl adjustment. This is an easy adjustment made with a flat head screwdriver that can quickly correct the problem of a flat beater hitting the bottom of the bowl.

Mixer beaters clanging together

The beaters might be fixable/replaceable but the bowl not spinning anymore is the more serious of the 2 problems. If this is several years old iit probably is more cost efective/simpler to replace the whole unit.

Good luck Loringh

Stripped beater gear

It is terminal. This is the fatal design flaw of these mixers. The gears are made of soft plastic and strip easily. Even the gear housing is plastic that is either glued or melted together to make it unserviceable. I have never suceeded in finding the part from either Sunbeam or one of the many appliance repair places on the web (who charge the cost of a new mixer for repair). Sunbeam does not repair them; if it is determined to have malfunctioned due to quality or design while under warranty, it is simply replaced with a new one. I had mine replaced under warranty twice, each time they sent me a new one complete with extra bowls and beaters. Now I have three sets of bowls and beaters and no functioning mixer.
