The camera tells me i have an incompatible dvd in the burner when i try to download. the dvd sent with the burner worked fine as did the first dvd download using tdk 1-16x 4.7gb disks. but another download using identical blank disks doesn't work, i keep getting a camera prompt after several seconds that says the disk is incompatible. only thing that makes sense is that the burner has gone south. any ideas? thanks

I have never been able to burn a DVD with my recorder. I keep getting incompatible disk prompt from camera. Have tried 16X DVD-RW's, R's and 4X verbatims, as suggested, but no luck. Does tray and burner need replaced as noted by another response on blog?

I have burned over 20 DVDs (from random manuf.) over the course of the past 2 years. Now I have the same problem. The service rep told me to use a DVD/CD lens cleaner, then if that doesn't work that I need to send it away to have it fixed. I live in FL and the closet service center is in GA......
I tried an old CD cleaner I have....didn't work. I would like to try the DVD cleaner before I send it away. I just saw a solution to have the tray and lens replaced...Approx. how much is replacing the tray and the lens going to cost?I have burned over 20 DVDs (from random manuf.) over the course of the past 2 years. I bought the Everio share station about a year ago. Used it once to make
sure it worked and now I tried to use it again and used dvd-r to receive
an incompatible message. I then tried the advice of the dvd-rw 4x and
it never recognized any disc in the drive. So I have a useless machine that
cost alot of money. This is also my second JVC camcorder that went on
us. I am writing off this company. What a waste! Was there any recalls on this product? There should be. JVC should come through for its customers and not rip them off.!

I thought that I just bought the wrong DVD's! I have only used the burner once (I received for Christmas). Now I have tried (and wasted more money) on different name brand DVD's, and I still get "incompatible DVD". What can I do?I thought that I just bought the wrong DVD's! Bought JVC Burner over a year ago. Used it at least 10 different times. Now everything is uncompatiable. Nothing works. Money down the tubes. Too costly to fix. We bought the JVC Everio Share Station DVD Burner about 18 months ago and just filled up the Hard Drive on the 30G Camcorder. When we went to burn the video to dvd, we get the "Incompatible Disc" message. We bought and returned 2 different brands and type of DVD's and nothing worked. Wasted a lot of money and we won't be purchasing JVC again.

This problem has happened to me - if you connect the burner to the camera you get an 'incompatible disc' error & if you connect the burner to a computer, the computer will recognise the burner, but if you try to access it you get an Input/output error. I have spoken to technical support, I have to post the burner at my expense to thier designated repairer and they might pay for it IF they find that it is a manufacturing fault. This problem has happened to me - if you connect the burner to the camera you get an 'incompatible disc' error & if you connect the burner to a computer, the computer will recognise the burner, but if you try to access it you get an Input/output error. I also bought a JVC Everio GZ-MG-130U Camcorder and a JVC Everio Burner and which are not even two years old yet. In December I burned 2 DVD's and they worked fine. I put the third one in and I was also told that I had an incompatibile disc & all three came out of the same box. No one but me has ever used the equipment. I'm also discouraged. This equipment is too expensive to buy more & of course they always stop working right after the one year warranty period is up. I too wish we could pressure the company to do the right thing. I loved the product when it worked. On top of everything else, I have an Apple Macintosh so I can't even use the software to burn on my computer as it is not MAC compatiable. I called support & they told me to get a DVD cleaner disc but that did not help in any way & I also bought other dics recommended by JVC and none of them worked.

Same problem, this is my 2nd burner which of course is out of warranty. Only used 2 times, seems JVC should recognize a problem and stand behind their products Same problem, this is my 2nd burner which of course is out of warranty. Simple as it sounds...unplug the sharestation for a few seconds. this seems to reset it and it may work for you. when you do this, turn off the camera also, kinda resetting the whole system

The type of disc varies from manufacturerer to manufacturer. Since there are a variety of DVDs,( +R,-R +RW,-RW and Dual Layer) you need to look at the documentation that came with your drive to see what is conpatible
This burner has been bad from the get go. J.V.C.Repaired once already. Wouldnt recommend buying this product to anyone. Camera is great but needs burner to download the information now. The burner is ****! J.V.C. charged me dearly for the first repair and I feel ripped off now ! Cant download and always asks for another disc, incompatible.
