Question about Dell Inspiron 6400 Notebook

Micro phone not working in my DELL Inspiron 6400

Bought DELL Inspiron 6400 laptop 2 months back. And never used the build-in Microphone option till today. And when i try to use it, it says no microphone detected. 1. Does it come with a built-in Micro phone ? 2. If so, how do i resolve this ?

Though I have inserted a microphone plug at Del 6400 socket still my laptop microphone system is not working , please help

There is NO built in microphone with this laptop. You will need to purchase an external microphone and plug it into the mic in socket.

Same problem here
after plugging the external mic it will work only if I unplug the electric power cable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i dont know wht is the relation between them

Where is the michrophone on del inspiron 6400?
Hello,

Unfortunately the Dell Inspiron 6400 is not equipped with a built in microphone.

You can use an external microphone having a 3.5mm jack by connecting it to the microphone connector found on the right side of the laptop.

I have just registered with Skype and want to make phone calls through my computer. I have a Dell Inspiron 6400 but the microphone does not appear to work. Is there a microphone on my computer?

You have to change Skype audio settings to use the inbuit microphone of your notebook. Follow the instructions below:

1) Start Skype
2) Click Tools > Options in the main menu.

3) Find the Audio Settings tab and click on it.

4) In the Microphone drop down menu, select the inbuilt microphone of your notebook.You'll notice that as select the correct one from the list, the green indicator in the volume bar moves back and forth when a voice is detected by the microphone.

4) Click Save.

5) Now test your sound.

I recently installed windows7 for my inspiron laptop 6400 model, when i try to make voice chat the results comes ''No input from your microphone is detected''
You need a driver. look up Dell Inspiron 6400 sound driver in google or dells website.

Skype is still telling me I have no microphone
Go to control panel and check sound and audio devices...under voice tab check the setting also try to look whether front mic option is selcted or rear one.......do reply back

No sound on Dell Inspiron 6400
the speakers hav problems or the sound chipset on the mainboard must be replaced.
you can use an USB external sound card too.

Does she have a microphone plugged in? I dont think the 6400 has a built in mic.

If you're sure your mic works then open the sound mixer (click the speaker icon by the time in the lower right) and click "options" then "properties" and select recording. Click ok. Make sure "microphone" is selected.
