Re: Acer 2300 travelmate
You can get seperate dc jacks from here
Try not to disconnect the screen as it may never come on again, i would take to a qualified repairer.

Try attaching an external monitor to the laptop & see if you could get any display on it. If this is successful, then you might have either a faulty LCD cable or screen inverter board. The
LCD cable transfers data signal from the motherboard & video card
to the LCD screen. It also supplies high voltage DC power to the screen
inverter board. The screen inverter board works as a power supply for
the backlight lamp mounted inside the LCD screen. It converts low
voltage DC power to high voltage AC power needed for the backlight lamp.
i have faced the same problem before 2 days ago......now i solved that one....i load my pc in safe mode....i adjust the screen resolution.....and i removed lastly i installed new software (it was typing master --- leave it this one).......after that i tried to connect acer laptop to sony projector (FN+F5) it's working properly.....try this.......please
All i can really offer for help is to try to remove the screws on the underside of the notebook. That is how i have to remove the keyboard on my Sony vaio. I cannot find anything online that describes how to remove the keyboard. But i can say when you get the keyboard off follow the link i provided above and click on the link that says "How to fortify damaged power jack connection in a laptop" This gives excellent instructions on how to repair this jack.
Or if you want to buy a new one follow this link to buy one off e-bay.
If you look on the laptop repair link it gives you a good idea about how to remove the keyboard so follow those directions as close as you can. And remember that these computers use a lot of snap fasteners so some stuff may be snapped in place and not screwed down.
Unfortunately the Travelmate doesn't come with any other way to format the computer to factory settings. However you do have 2 options. The first is to contact Acer who still provide OS discs for your laptop (They will charge you $49.95 including shipping). The second is to use a free Operating System such as Linux. I recommend Ubuntu www.ubuntu.org as it is very easy to use, has a great community support group and you can try by using a Live CD before formatting.
Does not switch on from mains.????????????? PLEASE EXPLAIN..........
Is the laptop lights not coming on when you plug it in? If not refer to the following.
Are you sure that your power plug has not broken loose. You will have to take the laptop apart to find this out. Sometimes the solder joint will come loose. Do not take this laptop apart unless you know what you are doing. The manual can give you step by step directions sometimes. It is not easy to take it apart without breaking the little things. If you do take it apart, take pictures of every step and take notes and even draw picture so you will know where everything goes. You can touch the plug where it is soldered and re-solder the plug. Please be careful. This takes someone with good solder skills to do.
just the jumper position on the mother board pin 1 and pin 2 will be occupied just unplug the power cord and remove the jumper and put the in 2 and 3 then wait for 5 sec then put the jumper to original position and power the laptop
Do u know to use Soldering iron...if u know..remove the proccessor from socket then de solder the BIOS batterry and short that two terminals on mother board without connecting the power adapter and battery...do it and re solder the bios battery..this procedure will help u to recover from ur problem..if u dont know then do it with any technician.
