Just had the same trouble. I loaded paper. Tried more paper, tried less paper. No luck. Finally in deparation and trying "everything" I could think of, I pressed "stop/reset" before pressing "start/copy" and now it's working. Very frustrating!

How do I clear the in use alarm on a canon mx340 printer?

The in use alarm appears to be related to fax reception and printing. There are some options below that you could try:-
Memory Reception If the machine receives a fax under one of the following conditions, it will not be able to print the received fax and will store it in its memory. The In Use/Memory lamp is lit and Received in memory is displayed on the LCD. When the problem is resolved as described, the fax stored in memory is printed automatically.
  • Ink has run out: Replace the FINE Cartridge.
    i_green_arrow.gifRoutine Maintenance
    i_note_e.gifNote
    • You can set the machine to forcibly print a received fax even if the ink has run out.
However, part or all of the fax may not be printed since the ink has run out.
Also, the contents of the fax will not be stored in memory.
If the ink has already run out, we recommend that OFF be selected for Auto print in FAX user settings to store the received fax in memory and print the fax manually after replacing the FINE Cartridge. After you replace the FINE Cartridge and select ON for Auto print, the fax stored in memory will be printed automatically.
  • Paper has run out: Load the paper and press the OK button.
  • A different size of paper from that specified by Page size is loaded:
Load the same size of paper as that specified by Page size, then press the OK button.
  • Page size is set to other than A4, 8.5"x11"(LTR), or Legal (or 8.5"x14"):
Set Page size to A4, 8.5"x11"(LTR), or Legal (or 8.5"x14").
  • Media type is set to other than Plain paper:
Set Media type to Plain paper.
  • You pressed the Stop button to cancel printing of a fax:
    Press the FAX button
Alternatively turn the printer off, open the devices and printers section of Control Panel, right click on your printer and select "see what's printing" and left click on this. A window will pop up which may or may not contain a list of documents. If it does these must be cancelled (Menu - Printer - Cancel all documents). Once all documents have gone from the list turn the printer on and try to print.
Other than the above suggestions I would need to know more about your OS and exact problem. Hope this helps.

Is there a way to retrieve and print a fax on the HP 6210 that did not print correctly due to a printer jam?

First of all, here is the direct link to the ONLINE USER'S MANUAL for that model:

http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c00238458.pdf

To view the Owner's Manual with Operating Instructions just use your mouse to click on the link, which is the underlined and highlighted text just above. This will open a new web browser page automatically for you and allow you to view the information at the website indicated and the contents of the Owner's Manual.

You may need ADOBE READER installed on your computer to read PDF documents. You can download this free at WWW.ADOBE.COM if necessary. Click on the DOWNLOAD ADOBE READER button on right side of the ADOBE home page when you get there, and then just follow the onscreen instructions to install it.

See page 95 of the ONLINE USER'S MANUAL for detailed instructions on how to REPRINT FAXES FROM MEMORY.

Basically it reads:

Make sure you have paper loaded in the input tray.
Press Setup.
Press 6, and then press 4.
This selects Tools and then selects Reprint Faxes in Memory.
The faxes are printed in the reverse order they were received with the most recently received fax printed first, and so on.
If you do not need a fax that is printing, press Cancel.
The HP all-in-one begins printing the next fax in memory.
Note: You will need to press Cancel for each stored fax in order to stop it from printing.

Please comment back here to this page if you have any questions, have difficulty accessing the links, or just require further general assistance and I will respond as soon as I see it.

Thank you very much and good luck.

Hp officejet 6500 instructions for receiving a fax? Thanks

You can receive faxes automatically or manually. If you turn off the Auto Answer option, you must receive faxes manually. If you turn on the Auto Answer option (the default setting), the device automatically answers incoming calls and receives faxes after the number of rings that are specified by the Rings to Answer setting. (The default Rings to Answer setting is five rings.)
If you receive a legal-size fax and the device is not currently set to use legal-size paper, the device reduces the fax so that it fits on the paper that is loaded. If you have disabled the Automatic Reduction feature, the device prints the fax on two pages.
NOTE: If you are copying a document when a fax arrives, the fax is stored in the
device memory until the copying finishes. This can reduce the number of fax pages stored in memory.
This section contains the following topics:
• Receive a fax manually
• Set up backup fax reception
• Reprint received faxes from memory
• Poll to receive a fax
• Forward faxes to another number
• Set the paper size for received faxes
• Set automatic reduction for incoming faxes
• Block junk fax numbers
• Receive faxes to your computer (Fax to PC and Fax to Mac)
Receive a fax manually
When you are on the phone, the person you are speaking with can send you a fax while you are still connected. This is referred to as manual faxing. Use the instructions in this section to receive a manual fax.
NOTE: You can pick up the handset to talk or listen for fax tones.
You can receive faxes manually from a phone that is:
• Directly connected to the device (on the 2-EXT port)
• On the same phone line, but not directly connected to the device
NOTE: The automatic document feeder must be empty to receive a fax. If there are documents in the ADF, then the device will not be able to receive incoming faxes.
To receive a fax manually
1. Make sure the device is turned on and you have paper loaded in the input tray.
2. Remove any originals from the document feeder tray.
NOTE: The automatic document feeder must be empty to receive a fax. If there
are documents in the document feeder, then receiving the fax will be
unsuccessful.
3. Do one of the following to answer a fax manually:
• Set the Rings to Answer setting to a high number to allow you to answer the
incoming call before the device answers.
• Turn off the Auto Answer setting so that the device does not automatically
answer incoming calls.
4. If you are currently on the phone with the sender, instruct the sender to press Start on their fax machine.
5. When you hear fax tones from a sending fax machine, do the following:
a. Press START FAX Black or START FAX Color on the device control panel.
b. When prompted, select Fax Receive.
NOTE: Depending on your country/region, the device might receive the fax
automatically when you hear fax tones from the sending fax machine.
6. After the device begins to receive the fax, you can hang up the phone or remain on the line. The phone line is silent during fax transmission.
