I bought the JVC 48'' rear projection HDTV in Aug 2006. There is been a blue blob on the screen for months that I have ignored. The picture faded out and went white but the sound stayed on. I went through the menu and did an automatice convergence. Now there is a faded picture, yellow and red border and what image I can see (faint) also has a ghost.

In the menu do the auto convergence. If still bad replace the convergence ics. Also check resistors around the ics. You can remove the front grill and access the conv board from the front. Small board on the right. It popps out.
May need new globe This can only be rectified by a service engineer. Any Sony TV Outlet (sales) should be able to advise you on the cost of fixing this problem.Be porepared for a shock at the cost though
convergence ic and resistors require replacement and that you need to check for cracked solder. http://home.earthlink.net/~oleg.filippov/ConvergenceFix.htm http://cmpalmer.blogspot.com/2006/11/fixing-my-own-tv-part-ii.html
