Light comes on the seems to be the over heat , it has the f/c light that seems to be heat related..it is an epic 6000 and belongs to a friend ..I think this is the type...??
it ran well until yesterday..don,t think it is clogged or anything..new bag and filter. thanks
The problem is most likely motor-wiring related and should be checked out. The temp indicator light is there to halp prevent an electrical fire and should not be by-passed or ignored. Please feel free to contact me if you need assistance finding the local Aerus Electrolux dealer in your area.
I DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN BY "F/C" LIGHT, BUT IF THE MACHINE IS OVER HEATING THE LIGHT LOOKS LIKE A THEMOMETER. IF OVER HEATING IS THE PROBLEM, ONCE THE MACHINE COOLS IT SHOULD WORK AGAIN.

Have you checked the motor on the powerhead? It runs on a separate motor from the vacuum cleaner. Also make sure the belts in the powerhead are good. Hope this helps.
My epic 6500 starts for a few seconds and turns off. With the filter light on. I take out the filter and it still does it. It only stays on if I cover the filter hole with my hand. Any solutions.
I have no idea just what reverse suction would be or how to get it from ANY vac. If you're looking at getting the blowing air from the vac instead of suction, then simply move the hose from the suction end to the exhaust end.
If this Epic 6000 is shutting off when you either just turn it on or while vacuuming with it...it\'s one of several things...1. Change the bag if you\'ve been picking up a lot of "fine" dust such as drywall dust or carpet freshener powder. That\'s ******* them. 2. Being the machine is over 22 yrs. old, the suction control valve inside either needs to be replaced or just cleaned well. This is the usual cause of the vac shutting off especially if you\'ve tried the dial in several different settings. Hope that helps!
2. Check for clogs in the hose and the power nozzle inlet.
3. Disconnect hose. Turn on vacuum. Does it run? If so, place hand over intake? Did it shut off? If it did, the problem is a worn out or broken component inside the vacuum. Generally a result of using generic "made to fit" Electrolux bags. This is a part that needs to be replaced in an authorized Aerus (Electrolux) shop.
Open the front of the canister and remove the bag. As you are looking at the front of the unit, there are two vinyl coverd strips that run the length of the unit. Pull forward on these strips and then pull out so that the vinyl seperates from the plastic underneath. Now grab the plastic strip with a pair of needle nose pliers and pull towards the front of the canister. These can be tough if the machine has never been opened up before, but pull as hard as you need to, to slide the strip out. Once both strips are out, turn the machine over, pull out on the sides of the bottom of the unit, and lift up. The bottom should come of relatively easily, and eveything will be exposed. Good Luck!!
I don't have a manual for these but the trickiest thing about these units is taking them apart. If you have an Aerus/Electrolux dealer near you, it's not a bad investment to have them install the motor for you. You would probably receive a warranty with the work, and the things a long time. Great return on investment. But if you are determined to do it yourself, open the front of the canister and remove the bag.
