WRT54G and PS3 not accessing online service

I have a 3G wireless modem connected to my PC - then I use my WRT54G wireless router to pick up the signal. Used to be able to connect to PS3 wirelessly but as of late can't get online at all! Can anyone give me a run down of what ip addresses needed to go in router and ps3 please? It's driving me nuts getting all these dns errors

Connected wireless to router, excellent signal, but unable to connect to internet.

connected to wireless router with excellent signal may not means you are connected to internet. make sure your modem provided by internet service provider has signal! connect your computer to modem directly bypassing router. If you are online that means your internet is functional. Then connect modem to your Linksys router and use your wireless to log on to internet.
Your router wireless signal active and excellent means you are connected to router not necessarily the internet. The modem supplied by your internet service provider with active internet should be connected to you router on WAN port!
good luck!!

Trying to hook-up a wirless router (Linksys WRT54G) to a SpeedStream 5100 for PS3 gaming on-line.

Before we configure router with PS3, we need first to make sure router is already configure to work with DSL modem. In Setting-Up a Linksys Router Using DSL Internet Service just click this link for reference.

HOW TO USE INTERNET IN MORE THAN ONE PC FROM LINKSYS WIRELESS G B

You have two ways on how you can get other computer online through this router. First, you can wired them (using an Ethernet cable) to one of the Ethernet ports on the back of the router. They are the ones labeled 1, 2, 3, and 4.

Second is through wireless, but those computers that will connect through wireless must also have a wireless adapter to be able to pick up the signal that this router is broadcasting.

No more internet thru router after new modem installed

Router setup
Go to the control panel and un-install the program that the Comcast cd installed. then:
Shutdown your PC. Unplug the power from the router and the cable modem.
Wait 30 sec. then plug in the power to the cable modem, wait 30 sec. then plug the power to the router. Wait till you have "Internet" light then restart your PC. The PC should pick up an IP address and you should be able to get on-line.

Did Comcast reset you wireless router settings? If so, you may need to set up your SSID and security settings.

Customizing Wireless Settings of the Router
Having default wireless settings on the Linksys router may cause conflict with other Linksys routers within your network range. Linksys suggests changing the SSID (network name) and the Wireless Channel of your router. Also, if it is possible, enable the Wireless Security of your router.
To change the router’s SSID or the wireless network’s name, click here.
To change the router’s channel, click here.
To enable the wireless security on the router, click here.
If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe

Linksys wireless g wrt54g router setup

I would check the ip addresses for the modem & the router. You can do this by typing a command line from the "Run" entry on the Start menu. At the command line type in ipconfig /all & there you will find the ip addresses. My hunch is that they are both set to 192.168.1.1 - you will need to change one of these to something like 192.168.2.1.

Linksys wrt54gs Set up

1. Unplug your cable/dsl modem.
2. Unplug your Router
3. Plug in your modem ... wait for it to come completely up.
4. Plug in your WRT54G Router and wait for it to come up.
5. Go to your 1st PC and get into Command Prompt. Type is ipconfig /release .... then type ipconfig /renew
6. Check for internet connectivity.
Repeat step 5 for for your second PC.

If your second PC is wireless go into the wireless config utility and search for access points. Connect to your Access point and check for connectivity.

If you still have no internet. Press the reset button on the back of the router for 45 seconds while it is powered on. Repeat steps 5 and 6.

Be sure to lock down your wireless SSID so neighbors and people passing by are unable to connect to your access point and do bad things on your network.

Opening ports on 4100

Thanks for the information. I'd recommend obtaining a router, it would make your life easier because routers are made to do exactly what you're needing to do (split your internet connection among several devices (PS3, PC, etc.). I'm a fan of Linksys routers, I use them in every home deployment possible. You can find the Linksys WRT54G or some variant at any big box store (Best Buy, Circuit City, etc.) or at online retailers (NewEgg.com, Buy.com, Amazon.com) for real cheap. All you'll need to do is hook up your router to your ISP'd modem, hookup your PC & PS3 to your router, enabled uPNP (universal Plug & Play) on the router and you're set.

You could use your PC as a router (assuming your PC has two network cards in it). You just turn on Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) and specify which card is connected to the ISP's modem (internet) and which one is connected to the PS3 (internal network). I don't recommend this solution as it is a bit buggy and having to route all the data from PS3 through your PC degrades the online performance on both the PC & PS3.

I hope this info helps, let me know if there's anything else I can do to help.

Ps3

Are you going to connect your PS3 wired to your router or wireless?
1. check first if ps3 is working behind rca modem.
2. then connect a pc directly to your linksys router
3. open configuration page of linksys by typing your gateway on your browser. (usually it is by default 192.168.1.1)
4. go to applications and gaming tab
5. you'll find there port forwarding..key in your number there
> i guess your numbers are like 88 and 3764 (something like that)
6. if your trying to connect your playstation wirelessly, you need to know your wireless security (if your router is secured).
> go to wireless tab and look for wireless security
> get your key
7. go back to playstation and try to view your wireless network
> connect and type in your key
