Switch off the unit at the isolator or fuse box. Leave off for 10 mins to reset. When powering up again and it still wont work, check your remote control batteries are good. Also confirm you haven't "blanked out" the display. Some controls have a display or LED function which blanks out the display so that the lights are not bright at night time. (For bedrooms so that the light doesn't keep you awake) Also check that you have not pressed a "child lockout button" This will stop anything ..
SOURCE: Air condition problem
An E1 error is automatically generated after the AC runs for so many hours to remind you to clean the filter. The manual says to clean filter and unplug unit, then plug unit back in and code will be reset.

SOURCE: Comfort Aire PAC-121 problem
E4 shows up on the screen on my PAC-121 when the water reservoir on the right-hand-side is not pushed in all the way. If it is in all the way the switch that it engages may be bad or out of place.
SOURCE: My sharp comfort touch air conditioner make loud
Hi, you may want to check the bearings on the fan motor it self. They will wear or get dry and make very loud noises. Check the motor body at each end to see if this motor has oil caps at each end to add a few drops of oil. Some motors do and other motors have sealed bearings and when they go, there is not much you can do when they fail. If it does have a place to oil them, get the oiler at a hardware store. They come in a small plastic bottles that telescope to reach the bearings. This may take the noise away if the bearings are not already gone. Let me no what you find and we can go from there. I wish you the best,

This is a reminder to clean the air filter. It happens every 720 hours of operation. Here are the steps to get it back up and running:
1. Power down the air conditioner using the "power" button on the front panel.
2. Unplug the air conditioner from the wall socket.
3. Hold the front panel "power" button down and plug the air
conditioner in. Continue to hold the power button down as the machine goes through a brief test sequence (fan & compressor each come on briefly, etc). There is a "beep" sound at the end of the test sequence, and the machine will be off. At this point, you can release the power button.
4. Unplug the air conditioner.
5. Plug the air conditioner back in.
6. Congratulations! You should now be able to operate the air
conditioner normally for another 720 hours, but only if you followed the instructions above EXACTLY.
