This unit has worked fine for several years. Now when I turn it on, at first the green power light goes on, after a few minutes there is a beeping sound and the status light blinks red. The lamp does not go on. Could this been as simple as needing a new bulb?
I have replaced a lamp and can not seem to reset the lamp hours ,or light up the unit at all?I have replaced a lamp and can not seem to reset the lamp hours ,or light up the unit at all?

I have 3 of these and all failed within weeks of each other with the same problem. The status light blinks 6 times telling me the lamp failed to ignite.
I fixed all 3 by opening them and shuffling motherboards around. I didnt order any new parts, call tech support or anything fancy. Just swapped boards.
Maybe they will keep working, maybe they wont. It might be worth a shot if you've run out of warranty though. It's not going to get any busted-er.
According to the manual, yes . . .probably gone past the recommended hours of lamp use. Press the OFF or the HELP button on the remote for 10 sec, this will reset the lamp hours value and allow the unit to come on. If it don't, NEC will tell you that it has to be sent to a repair center.
*And - if anyone has the fix for a new lamp not resolving this, or the "hold the button" not working, please post it back . . .I have three of these at a location I run tech for that all went belly-up within a day or so of each other - looks like I'm having to ship these back soon.*And - if anyone has the fix for a new lamp not resolving this, or the "hold the button" not working, please post it back . . .I have three of these at a location I run tech for that all went belly-up within a day or so of each other - looks like I'm having to ship these back soon.

i just had the same problem i took the top of the projector off and cleaned the color wheel and sensor seemed to have fixed the problem that is for now. seems to happen to me once a year on the dot but last time it was warranty. good luck hope it helps.
Replacing the lamp with an old one was helpful for me. Good news: the projector itself not faulty. Bad news: I have two projectors with the same issue at the same time (the lamps were replaced also at the same time) after only 400 hours of running.
When the lamp exceeds 2100hoursof service, the projector cannot turn on and the manu is not displayed. Do the following: For VT670/VT470 Press the help button on the remote control for a minimum of ten seconds. For VT570/VT47 Press and hold the power and the exit buttons on the remote control simultaneously for a minimum of ten seconds. When the lamp time clock is reset to zero, the lamp indicator goes out. Hope this helps! :]
If it is a lamp error try this: When the lamp exceeds 2100 hoursof service, the projector cannot turn on and the manu is not displayed. For VT570/VT47 Press and hold the power and the exit buttons on the remote control simultaneously for a minimum of ten seconds. When the lamp time clock is reset to zero, the lamp indicator goes out.
