Razr messaging I have a Cingular/AT&T Razr. The phone is automatically sending MMS instead of plain text messages. It does this when I am the originator of the message as well as when I simply reply to a standard text message. It doesn't do it all the time though and there is no pattern as to when it does so it. What could be causing this?

For the record, I had the same problem and it was tough searching Google to find a solution. Luckily I found this thread. I emptied my outbox and inbox and no longer have this problem.

This tends to happen when your inbox/outbox gets too full. I have a razr also and this has happened to me. Try cleaning up older messages. Hope this helps.

LG???

Messages > Settings > Text Message > "Send long text as"

If your text is longer than 2 pages, it'll try and send as MMS automatically if you haven't changed it when you had the phone. So if your phone isn't set up for MMS it'll refuse! lol.

Can't text with this cingular razr with a tmobile sim card

Your service center number may be wrong in the phone. Call T-Mobile and ask for the service center number. You should be able to find it in your text messaghing settings. If it is rong (since it varies between carriers) it will stop text messages from going out.
You may also want to try your sim in a tmobbile phone and see if you can send text. Might be a problem on the network, not just with your cingular phone.

Multimedia issue with the Razr V3

While you have already compared settings on the phones, check out these settings that are often overlooked regarding the Internet connection, and not just the messaging portion.

Run through the list, and if it all matches, you should be all set.

From the standby screen, press the Menu Key.

Scroll to "Settings," press Select.

Scroll to "WebAccess," press Select.

Scroll to "Web Sessions," press Select.

Scroll to "Cingular MMS" press Menu.

(if not there select "new")

Scroll to "Edit," press Select.

Validate the following parameters:

Press Done.

Press Exit.

Press Back.

Press the Menu key.

Scroll to "Inbox Setup," press Select.

Scroll to "MMS Message Setup," press Change.

Scroll to "Server Info," press Change.

Phone Sending MMS Messages as Default

The phone allocates a certain amount of storage for messages on a whole. Even though there may still show space available for text messages, you have hit an invisible "limit" and the phone is now defaulting to MMS messages because there is "room" there. Delete a fair amount of messages and you should be able to start sending regular text's again.
