Gas does not always ignite

When turning on the oven of our GE gas range (stove + single oven) the gas does not always ignite. Sometimes it does on the first try. Other times I have to "restart" it by turning the knob to 'off',' waiting a few minutes and then turning it on again.
Recently It has needed 2 or 3 "restarts" before the oven heats up.
There are no problems with any of the burners.

The igniter is not properly.Every time you go to light the stove you should hear a clicking sound. If you only hear it sometimes suspect the igniter..

GE JGSP28SEN4SS bake and broil do not work

Gas ovens need a glow bar igniter to operate as a safety feature. if it is broken (and they do go out often) nothing will work. (it stops the gas from coming into the stove if it is broken, (its purpose light any gas and to send a signal to the valve that (yes I'm on and you can keep sending gas) they are always on when the oven is on they never stop glowing... until you turn off the oven.. they are very visible in their glow.. in most oven you can see them like a red hot iron glowing in the oven before it lights the gas.
in the diagram #316 is the igniters

This is for your info only call the gas company...or a qualified gas oven repairman. Gas ovens can be dangerous.
If the glow ignitors are working (both) then it could be a valve issue but they need a certain amount of resistance from the glow bar to open. (sometimes even if the glow bars are glowing if they are getting old the resistance is not enough to open the gas valve.)

I have a GE Spectra XL44 gas stove, but I'm having problems with the oven heating up.Sometimes after several attempts I get the oven operating, but most time stops at around 100 degrees. All of the top...

Hi,
Yes, I think that you have a problem with the ignitor on your gas range.
As crazy as it may seem the ignitor can light your oven and then the power going through it drops off too much and it will shut your gas valve off. It sits there and goes crazy trying to relight all the time and never gets your oven hot. Sometimes it will and sometimes it won't... Drove me nuts the first time my own oven did that a few years back.

Here is a tip that will help explain it also. At the bottom of that tip there is also a tip on how to buy partson line.

Magic chef oven/stove top range not staying hot

Hi, It very well could be the ignitor. Sometimes they work at first and then will not open the gas valve later in cycle. You can set the oven to heat and watch the ignitor. If it glows and the gas will not ignite in 30 to 45 seconds, the igniter is getting weak. I jope this helps.
Please let me know if I can assit you further.

Ge xl44 oven not igniting but burners ignite

The most common failure for a nobake on this type of oven is the bake ignitor. turn unit on and look at the bottom of the oven, you should after about 30-45 seconds see an ORANGE glow, if you do not, chances are you have a failed ignitor.Remove lower part of oven and if you have a meter, place one lead on each terminal and check for continuity( a closed circuit)
If you have an "open" circuit, the ignitor is bad

GE gas stove the burners on top work, the oven won't get hot

The most common reason a gas oven won't heat is a bad igniter. It is located near the valve and burner under the oven bottom. You can usually see it glow orange just before the fire lights. Most GE ranges take a cylindrical igniter part #WB2X9154 or #WB13K21 rectangular igniter.
