Question about Gateway DC-T50 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Gateway camera DC-T50

I want to return this camera for repair. It was purchased 2 or 3 years ago.....my first digital camera. From the beginning it has been one problem after another. First of all, the USB cord never did work but I got a card reader and solved that problem. The biggest problems were on the viewfinder LED indicator. The lights would flash orange or red with warnings such as "NO CARD", "PROTECTED CARD", "ERROR, and "DATE AND TIME LOST". Sometimes it won't power on and other times it just turns itself off. When I can get a picture, I am very happy with the quality. I have missed out on many pictures of birthdays and special occasions because of the malfunctions. At first I thought it was operator inexperience, but I think now it must be a bad contact between the media card, battery and camera. Can I send the camera somewhere to get fixed? I am planning to get a new camera because I have given up on this one. However, I spent good money on it and think it is worth fixing. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Where can I send the camera to get fixed? I am retired on a fixed budget and can not just toss it out and get a new one. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Well, you could have a look at , but unless you can get this camera fixed very cheaply or under a very generous 3-year Gateway warranty (which Gateway is not known for), I'd say it's best to cut your losses and go with plan A, getting a replacement. Gateway is about to be sold to Acer, so it's currently at loose ends anyway, and they're notorious for their poor support at the best of times. Digital cameras have come a long way in the past couple of years--I just got a new HP M537 with free 1GB memory card at Staples for $110 that my wife loves. But even if you fixed the Gateway for free you'd have an old unreliable camera waiting for something else to break and guaranteeing lots more missed pictures (BTW, you can get a working DC-T50 on eBay for about 20 bucks). The time to get it fixed was the day after it first malfunctioned. Enjoy your new camera!

Digital Camera error

thats the most common trouble in digital cameras, it last for around three years working in good condition. try to locate the backup battery , its a small button like battery. also try another memory card, your card maybe has a virus.

Camera not working

Could be back light has failed[ can you see any feint images at all? Or a connector has come adrift or a board failure of some kind. If the camera if fairly new then get onto Gateway tech support. If it has no warranty left -I fear the price of a repair will be more than the camera is worth but you can try for a repair.
