Mitsubishi WD-52525 52" Rear Projection HDTV Logo

Mitsubishi WD-52525 When I went to turn my tv on, the screen was blue with a white, snowy patch in the center, any ideas on what the problem is? TV will not tune into any channels, reset TV also.

Blue screen with white horizontal snow and larger ball in the middle. Screen reads check RGB or YPrPb connections, but they were all fine. Audio works, but no video from any component. One day later, the screen is black and Lamp indicator shows solid red. But I just replaced the lamp several months ago, and I put in another new one just to be sure, which did not work. Mitsubishi Support offers no solutions.

Normal 0 The Mitsubishi WD-52525 has a serious capacitor problem as discussed in this forum overseen by a Mitsubishi certified repair technician: http://www.hometheatershack.com/forums/mitsubishi/11703-problem-mitsubishi-wd-52525-scrambled-picture-no-picture-2.html. There has been a worldwide problem in computers and TVs over thepast several years with faulty electrolytic capacitors (from Taiwan) thatdecay, dry out, swell and die. The power supply is often the firstcomponent to go bad, but other systems also degrade over time. As theforum explains , this problem is widespread in these sets causing multipletypes of display problems after several years of use. On my set, I also got a blue screen with a lighter blue ball in the middle. Mitsubishi is awareof the problem and will cover most of the cost of repairing the chassis, evenyears out of warranty, but apparently ONLY if you get an estimate from aMitsubishi certified repair station and contact their customer support BEFOREdoing any work on the set. I just followed the recommended procedure onthat forum and Mitsubishi is covering half the cost of my $700+ repair when my3+ year-old set recently died and showed only this blue screen on all inputs.

Our Mitsubishi WD 52525 goes to blue screen and shuts off.

It sounds like you TV is overheating and the video is suffering and the lamp is overheating as well. Also, if your TV is over 2-3 years old, the mirrors (behind and below the big front screen) desperately need to be cleaned. Clean all filters and fans as well. (Look on side and behind the unit). Is the TV in a "hot" environment and/or dirty environment? DLP TV's are NOT sealed units. They need to be cleaned every few years to work well to have a good, clear, bright picture.
