Question about GE 2-9450C Corded Phone

My intercom button flashed red to green. When I push a line button, I get a two-tone beep but no dial tone. I changed the internal 9 v battery. I unplugged the phone and waited, then plugged it back in. None of these things helped.

    Thanks geokos!
It works and the only thing I had to figure out is that you certainly must plug in the phone line first after you let the memory clear. Then attach the power cord and the rest was slick as could be.
Before I posted this problem, I found two more phones online so now I have two extras for when one of our others in church (we have 4) really quit working.

geokos, you mentioned, "The First disconnect the phone (I assume you mean the power cord) and the telephone line for about 10 minutes to allow for the memory to clear. Then press the "store in" button once and then press a storage button repeatedly until the light stays on constantly" ... that means nothing is plugged into the phone. If that's true I can't get ANY lights to come on if everything is unplugged.

Just in case I plugged the phone line back in, then the power cord and pressed the "store in" button once, then repeatedly presss a storage button (same things as the 16 intercom buttons..?) and no change. Am I just missing something. Thanks for your help! ribro

I have the same problem and none of these solutions work???

My intercom button is flashing red and green as well. It seems to be frozen. I unplugged everything and waited for at least 10 minutes, plugged them back in the recommended order, and nothing. Has anyone else come up with a solution to this issue?

    Thanks.

Will the phone work with only one line?

  • purplepower Oct 26, 2008

Our power flashed off during a storm. The next morning two out of our four phones were not working on line 1. We went thru the intercom sequence on two of the phones as that always seems to work when we have a problem but this time after goin thru this process both lines did not work and the intercom button continues to flash red and green no matter what we do. I have unplugged the phone lines and the power lines over night but as soon as I plug it back in, the intercom light starts blinking again.

Each telephone must be connected to line 1 and line 2 for
proper operation. The remaining lines 3 and 4 may — or may not —
be connected to each station as you desire. First plug in the battery, then the phone lines (1 & 2 are mandatory), and third the power cord. If your intercome LED is blinking red and green, then press: STORE IN, followed by "INTERCOM" followed by a free intercom# (i.e., any of the memory buttons 1 through 16 not already assigned to another telephone set). Then wait for the phone to go through its initiation sequence during which it searches each of the four possible lines. After that concludes, you should get dial tone on your active lines. :-) Marco

Flashing INTERCOM light on 2-9450/51 GE phone? Here's the solution:
- unplug ALL phone from phone lines (1 and 2) for each phone with FLASHING intercom: - unplug power - unplug phone line - remove battery
Now . . . at EACH phone (with flashing intercom): - install FRESH battery and TIGHTEN cover (screw in) - plug phone line in (MUST have line 1 and 2 wired, but not active) - BEFORE plugging in AC power . . . do - program the STATION # . . . - press PROGRAM button (under plastic cover) - press intercom button - press TWO digit number NOT in use at any other phone - press # button - plug power back in . . .
look ma, NO flashing intercom light
no plug all the other phones back in - if any phone has flashing INTERCOM light, there is a STATION # conflict - resolve by following above

Hello, please i want to know how to set up speed dial on the KXT7730 that is not the main line ie not on 0, or 101 on the switch board

Guessing that you already know about SYSTEM speed dials, then the 12 buttons on the right side of your phone are the PERSONAL speed dials. When you get dial tone on the intercom, you can dial "9" and the system will either give you a dial tone, or the highest line in the system. If that is not a working line, you need to fix that first (system program 400 assigns lines in service).

Once you have that, a PF button is programmed by pressing PROGRAM, the button, and dial 9 + your number dialed the same way as if you had pressed a CO button then STORE. You can keep pressing PF buttons and programming numbers. Then press PROGRAM or pick up the handset and drop it back down to end programming.

What happens when you dial "9" into the intercom dial tone? Is that the line you wnat to auto select?

A lot depends on the system your phone is connected with. In a TA series on an idle phone, press PROGRAM 11 for no preference (what you have) 12 for Idle line (what you get when you dial 9) or 13 and a number from 1 to however many lines you have to select a specific line.
Those commands are followed by the STORE button and PROGRAM to end the programming.

Comdial Executech 6714x-PG We have nearly 20 phones. All of them get a dial tone but nothing happens when you press 9 to dial out, none of the phones will dial out. Calls can come in only. Thank you

they are either restricted or what you are hearing is intercom tone and not dial tone. the phones may be set to dial out from a diffrent line grop as well have you tried dialing 81 82 instead of 9 and see what happens

I have a kx-ta624..one of my extensions was programmed to co1 and now I want to program it to co3... how do I do this?

It's been a few years since I programmed a 624, but here goes.

IIRC the 624 selects lines in 1,2,3 order vs. the 824's 321. Dial "9" from the intercom and you can verify this.

The system has 3 modes of operation when it comes to outside line access, No preference (gives you intercom dial tone) Idle line preference (gives you the same as if you dialed "9", and specific line preference.

From the phone, do not pick up the handset but press PROGRAM or use the set switch to program, dial 1 1 for none, 1 2 for idle, or 1 3 x for a specific line. Any of those commands would be followed by STORE.

Put the system back in SET or press the PROGRAM button to exit.

With any line preferenc, you have to press Intercom to dial internally or page. If your specific line is busy, you won't get anything when you pick up the phone or press SP PHONE. It also disables Last Number redial if the line is busy.

Did I mention that I don't use it :-) Of course, I don't use the 624 either.

I want to acivate barg-in facility in my panasonic tes 824 epabx & wants to operate

Go to program 608 and turn the feature on for each extension you want to have the capability. Then, from each phone dial 7300# and 7331# on the intercom. The phones will probably give a double beep because those are the default states for Data Line security and Executive override allow.

For a CO line you just press the red button. For an extension, dial 2 into the busy tone.
