use the user maunal so you know what I'm talking about. I got the FAT error! Plz.. and I could still get the icons. This is how I fixed it. Go to settings and go to advanced press play once only. Plug into computer and it wil recognize it as a flash drive. Completely Format the drive then unplug the player from computer. It will switch back to previous setting automatically. If you need to update drivers and firmware use the auto updater from http://www.voxxsupport.com/images/downloads/autoupdater.exe
Contact the manufacture and advise them. I have been in contact with over 200 persons with the same product and the same problem. I am sill finding people with the same error.

Not really sure of the options there but here is a fix that works on rca H106

do one thing
go throught disk management and locate your mp3 digital player.
try to format it fat file system
it must work after this
ok...
I could not find a way to fix it, it was basically dead to me. I had the same problem on my h104 one, so I just called up RCA and sent my player to them and then they just sent me the h106.
There are two ways to format an Mp3 player - one on the computer
itself, and one in Windows Media Player. Both methods will end up
erasing all the songs on the player, but the player will be "good as
new" after that. Sometimes reformatting in this manner will override
the player's native formatting and cause problems - this can be
reversed in most cases by updating the player's firmware. Firmware
upgrades are available from most manufacturers' websites. WARNING: The following procedures will erase all songs on the player.
Check if the file system is NTFS. If yes, format it to FAT or
FAT32. - Connect player to computer, double-click my computer, right
click on icon of mp3 player and select format. This only applies to
Windows-based computers. You can also format the player in Windows Media Player itself: Connect your Mp3 player to the computer and open Windows Media
Player. Click on the Sync tab. Pull down the drop down menu underneath
the Sync tab by moving your cursor over the Sync tab and left clicking
on the little black arrow underneath the Sync tab. Highlight "name of
Mp3 player here 1GB" (wording may vary slightly), and then select
"Format." - this should erase everything. -Tha Mp3 Doctor
This may sound stupid but, it worked. I dropped it from about two feet onto our kitchen floor and it turned on. I am sorry if it makes it worse... but what do you have to lose
