Question about Canon PIXMA MP830 All-In-One InkJet Printer
Please help! Our MP830 was new about 4 months ago and we have now changed all the ink tanks at different stages as they ran out. We are using Canon refills but the yellow tank comes up with either the UO71 or the U140 message. It very occasionally works but these times are few and far between. Any ideas? Many thanks.
Had the same error after replacing my black ink om my MP830.(UO71) I Put some Methylated Spirits on a cotton tip and gently cleaned the cartridge chip (allow it to air dry). This fixed my problem!

I'm having the same problem and its not the cartridge. I've replaced several and I'm still having problems. Piece of junk.

Ah, so it is the cartridge, I didn't want to waste one by replacing it and finding it was still stuffed. Thanks for that, looks like I'll have to get a new cartridge!

My wife sorted this one for me. The black cartridge flashed and the UO71 error message appeared. She found that one of the other cartridges (Magenta) also had a black chip! In fact, the magenta cartridge was also flashing. After replacing the magenta chip, everything was fine again. In this context, I guess that the apparently nonsensical error message was correct: there were two cartridges (well chips, at least) of the same colour.

I replaced the flashing ink cartridge with a new one and it's been fine ever since. Keep your dockets and if there is a problem tell the store to send it back to Canon. Mine did and we're cruising!

Usually answered in minutes!
I ended up changing the dodgy cartridge and it is now working fine.
I had the same trouble. I was receiving either a "More than one ink tank of the following color is installed" or an "Ink Tank can
not be recognized" message, for the same cartridge. Both problems were solved immediately by replacing the ink
cartridge. I also found the same solution by searching Canon's product page for the MP830 online.
I have had the same problem where the alarm is on and it specifies that more than 1 ink tank is installed / U140. I took the cartridge out and cleaned the chip and it's working, but I don't know if it will continue to . It's only been a problem since I changed the first lot of ink, so if it won't work again I will get the ink tank replaced (I have the dockets!)
I have the same problems: ERROR U071 more than one ink tank of the following color is installed.....i heard about some UNIVERSAL CHIPS that can working with no problems...
Please help
This is great. If you clean the chip at the front of the tank, it usually will work. Or at least it will work for a few prints until it displays UO71/UO140; just routinely clean the computer chip. Hope this helps! (when your taking German and your papers don't print, you forget stuff).
Corporations sold us all this **** (if we QUIT working for them and TRIED I'm sure we all could do better at making ****)...and now they apparently have bought our government so we'll all probably be getting more of this **** (but crappier) in the future....Capitalism blows~! Of course we're not going to get better products when the products are fueled by profit....next year, if they allowed me to vote, I think I'd vote socialist (it just CAN'T be any worse than this form of plutocratic government).
phew....glad I got that off of my damn chest~!!
