I have a SONY DSC F828 CYBERSHOT camera. I bought this lens for it, but I am not sure how to best use it. When I put it on the camera and zoom in it tends to get blurry. What is it best used for taking pictures of? What is the best setting or way to take pictures with this lens? THANK YOU!
I'm not familiar with the F-828 but on all the other CyberShot models which I've used this adapter on you have to enable it in the camera set-up menu before you can use it.
Some CyberShots need a firmware update before this can be done.

The lens thred is 58mm on F828, however a 58mm lens hood does not work; I have both a reverseable and a regular 58mm flower hood that extends 1/2" to the front of the lens causing dark corners on 28mm focal length. In addition, the lens itseft has built in receiver for hood as labled in the manual, I am thinking to get a 62mm or 60mm reversable hood and match up with the receiver on the lens
I'm not sure what you mean by "loose". Does it still take good pictures? If not, then Sony is correct...the camera was introduced in 2003 and the cost of repair would far exceed the camera's worth.
Hi,
i have provided some disassembly and reassembly detail on my blogsite to deal with a loose lens problem. The site has a link to the service manuals which might help, otherwise my detail might be all you need. See: http://howtheheckdididothat.blogspot.com/2010_10_01_archive.html
There are lots of pictures and step by step instructions. Hopefully this will fix your problem.
Sony Cybershot DSC-P200 worked great then the lens stuck in the open position.
Read on this site some one suggested gently manipulating the lens and tapping it then turning it on. It worked!!
I also dropped this camera from waist high and the lens was stuck out and would not retract or let me do anything. I ended up having it sent to Sony to replace the lens and it cost me $200. I paid $300 for the camera to begin with but to me this was the BEST camera I'd ever had and was worth it. Before repairing it, I bought a new Sony Cybershot DSC-W80 since the original one I had dropped was no longer available. I was NOT pleased with the quality of the new camera at all and it was supposed to be better than the one I dropped. That's when I decided it was worth repairing the broken one and worth the cost.
