You will have to read the secifics in your owners manual ... If you call 555-1234 from 555-5678 when 555-1234 answers, if you press a special code, you should be able to get your messages.

I had the same problem. You just need to call your phone service provider and they can deactivate this feature. This will allow all messages to go to your answering machine.
