IBM ThinkPad R4O - Screen is blank *ugh*

Hi everyone! I want to say thank you and I appreciate your help in this matter.I do not know what is going on with my laptop. I turn on my laptop and the screen is blank. I shinned a light down and I see no image. What should I try? I am a single mom trying to get this up for my 9 year old so he can have something to use for school. Sincerely, Denise

Hi Denise, Based on your post/description, it is not an LCD display problem then. You may want to check if it the leds/lights flash/lite up when you plug the AC wall adapter, also is there any beeping sound, any whirring or spinning sound from the inside when you power it on. If there are some indicator lights, it is possible that it's just the memory loose underneath the laptop. Turn it over (bottom side up) and look for a panel/lid with a screw (or 2). Open, inside should be 1 or 2 strips of memories. Parting sideways the 2 locks at the side will pop the memory up a bit. Slid it out and proceed to clean the little gold terminals at the bottom with a pencil eraser. you may also want to clean where it is inserted. An unused paint brush will do just fine. Other that that, couldn't think of any more steps you can take without opening the laptop fully. Should this still be a nogo, you may need the services of a qualified comp tech. Hope this be of some help/idea. Post back how things are or should you need further information. Good luck and kind regards.

    Hi again Denise,

Have you tried the memory cleaning/re-setting?

Hi, I can't login to my thinkpad T400 2765 R2A windows vista?

First of all try using blank (none) as password (otherwise at the log on screen hit "enter"). If this doesn't work log on at the administrator's account. To do this if you can see the administrator's icon click on it and use blank (none) for password again. If you can't see the administrator's icon, hit ctrl+atl+del TWICE and type as user "administrator", blank (none) for password and hit enter. After you log on as administrator change your user's account as you wish and you are ready to go.

Faulty screen - blue with lines -thinkpad - help please!!

You have faulty memory, replace the memory cards. If that does not fix the problem then the video card is faulty. first change the memory cards. If it is integrated on the motherboard, buy an PCI graphics card. I hope this info was helpful.
