My laptop doesn't charge the battery, it only works with ac.
Hi i have an acer aspire 3000, it will only run off ac and wont charge the battery, the battery is good as i can charge fine with my other battery.
Harvester3 makes a point here most likely the battery is gone, don't worry it happens quite often batteries have a life time and they need to be replaced. Good luck!
Are you sure the battery is good? How old is the system and battery? Do you have any way to check voltage at the battery terminals?
SOURCE: I can not charge battery on laptop or run on ac.
How are you sure that the power is getting through? Is the AC light on the computer on steady? Does it blink if you bump the connector?
So often the jack of the adapter or within the machine fails. Often if the jack feels loose on the computer, it is bad.
However, if none of that applies, I would go into the control panel and look at all the power settings to see if anything is unreasonable. Similarly, I'd look at the BIOS settings. (You may have to hit a particular key, like F10, when the machine boots --- there should be information on the screen, in the manual or at the Acer site.)
If that doesn't turn up anything, I would check the BIOS version and carefully follow the instructions to load a newer version if one is available or reload the previous version. Why? I don't exactly know, but when I had a Sony VAIO machine witih similar symptoms tech support suggested this and it did work.

Hi,
First of all you have to determine whether it's the battery, charger or the laptop itself.
Remove the battery and boot the laptop on AC power only, if the laptop boots up you can rule out the charger and the laptop, you may need a new battery if that is the case.
Regards.

As you have tried to replace battery and still new battery is not getting charged in this case it seems there is hardware problem. Circuit which allows battery to charge is not working.
It's more likely your dc power jack was loose or broken. It need to be resoldered.
