About two hours after i turn on my monitor while i'm typing or listening to music the monitor gets hot and the screen goes black but the power button remains on. I usually have to turn the monitor off to cool down in order for it to come back on.
I also had an issue with a Benq FP731 monitor. They have a 3yr warranty so my suggestion is to send it back. You have a IC on the inside that is getting ready to go out. You have to call them and get an RMA and pay for shipping out to them, but they ship back on their dime.

Have you put this monitor on a different system? Hook it up to a laptop or another desktop if at all possible. If it does the same thing, BenQ is full of ????. If it works fine, your video card may be overheating. I need to know a little bit more about your system to know. If its possible to send a list of system specs?

Thank you for your kind help. I called them right away and they asked me to send it as you said. Thanks a lot!!
So I send my monitor to BenQ for repairs, they send it back to me saying they tested it for three days and did not find anything wrong with it. What else could be the problem? Because I'm using it at home and I'm still having the same problem.
Thank you for trying to help. At the pickup office they hooked up my monitor to their desptop it never went out, but got hot. The monitor isn't coming on at all now but the power light is. For now I'm using my LCD TV as a monitor and it is working well. I'm having no problem whatsoever.
Is it possible for the cord that goes into the wall to be faulty?
Thank you so much for your kind help. You were correct about the IC going bad. I took it back to BenQ for repairs and finally they found the problem was the IC on the inside. They changed it and even changed the Front Panel all for free.
Problem Solved.
Thank you!!
