Printer is a HP LJ 1220N.
Documents from Word with doc extension print very well.
Docs from a PDF file or from a VB application won't print the last page.
I've double checked printer setting in 2 o3 PC in the network.
Failing PC has Win 2000 Pro.
One of the PC's with XP Pro used to have the same problem but it fixed itself suddenly.

Only one page per scan. But scan the desire doc and print it in the quantity you want. For the docs to be printed in PDF grab a copy of CutePDf that works as a printer driver. When you choose the doc in to printer you will choose CutePDF instead of your HP.

Try this !
in the software application you are printing from
Open the document that you want to print.
2. On the File menu, click Print, and then click Setup, Properties, or Preferences.
Look for a Best Mode Setting
this printer has several modes one being draft mode, another one best mode
in best mode the printer uses memory to render the photo you are trying to print. Note that in this mode, printing takes longer and more memory is required from your computer. from page 17 of the hp k5400 user manual
Also you may have to increase the virtual memory of the windows pc to allow the computers hard drive to allocate more hard drive memory to the memory swap file if the computer's ram is not enough to print the photo.
It is a setting in the control panel under system - performance.
It sounds like it is a printer memory issue. That printer comes with just 64MB of memory and PDF files are complicated for most printers. Try printing a few pages at a time for that PDF file and see if that works. If so than it is a memory issue.
