These machines have an integrated printhead built into the printer. The only way to try to fix this issue is to run the cleaning function anywhere from 3-7 times. First, remove the ink cartridges and depress the sponge side onto a paper towel. If you see ink on the towel, proceed to the next step. If no ink is present, replace the ink cartridges. They can be found for very cheap on this model. Next step, depends on whether or not the machine is hooked up to a computer or is just a stand alone fax machne. If it is not hooked up to a computer, go to the menu, scroll to maintainence and select clean cartridges. You will need to do this multiple times. Continue to do it if you see improvement, until you are satisfied with the print quality. You an also perform the cleaning from a computer. Locate the printer in the printer folder and right click on it. Select properties. At the bottom of that window, select preferences. Then select the maintainence tab, and select clean cartridges. Again, you will need to do this multiple times. Please advise if you need further help, or if this does not work and you would like info on current fax machines.
2: Open the front or top control panel Make sure not to force the door open.
3:Locate the ink cartridge. Gently pull the cartridge out. Set the cartridge aside.
4:Take the new cartridge out of the package and reserve the packaging. Remove the protective covers over the copper connectors.
5:Insert the new cartridge into the fax machine with the brand label toward you. Now place the old cartridge into the plastic wrapping and box that you reserved from the new cartridge. Recycle the old cartridge or dispose of it in the garbage.
6:Close the fax machine's access panel. Turn the fax machine's power back on.
1:Touching the copper connectors on the ink cartridge could damage the cartridge.
2:Make sure that you purchase the correct cartridge for your fax machine. Purchasing the wrong one could damage the cartridge or your fax machine.

On these machines there should be a button for set up or maintance on the fax machine.
If you can find this you may need to scroll and find the setup menu and enter in the fax setup area to add these changes. There are other sections to add date and time and store copies to memory or even print and set junk mail to off.
If the machine is old you may try the internet to search for a manual for this product or seek the vendor for publication manuals.

the next instructions to change the reception mode : 1. Press the [F2] key. “ this key is

select the reception mode “ this key is located under the Display of the Control Panel” 3. Press the [OK] key when on the display is displayed the mode
you want. note:as you sad you want the machine to reaceive
faxes when you are out of the office, so the reception mode [Auto Select] is
the most compaible mode for you. The machine can treat incoming fax messages and telephone calls in
three ways. 1.Manual
Receive - Use this mode if your line is
shared by a
fax machine and a telephone but you wish to answer all calls yourself and decide whether they are fax documents or telephone calls. You must manually press the [Start] key to receive a
fax. The machine will ring continuously until you answer the call, so you have to be near the machine at all times. The Manual Receive indicator is lit when the machine is in this mode. 2.
Auto Receive - Use this mode if you have a dedicated fax line. The machine assumes all calls are fax documents. It will ring once to alert you of an incoming call, and then starts receiving. 3.
Auto Select - In this mode, the machine rings a number of times. You can answer the call while the machine is ringing. If you do not answer the call, the machine automatically changes to receive fax messages.
Although I could not find the manual for your specific model, go to the following site and download the manual for a model similar to yours.
Similar models in the same family will generally use the same programing conventions. Pay particular attention to the RTI, TTI and CSI functions.
