The LED light flashes and the monitor will lightly flash but it will not come on
If you you have noticed, the light on the adapter was not blinking originally. It is blinking only recently.
Get your adapter checked out using an electrometer. It is most probably not generating DC volt as needed.
the sound is probably from turning on and off of the current (since it may be passing alternating current).
Getting a new power adapter should help solve this issue.

I had no problem getting in touch with X2Gen, it was still under warranty so I sent it to them and they repaired it then returned it within a week. I still don't know what the problem was but if it happens again I will try the power supply first.

I have the same problem. After a week of trying to contact, I found X2GEN closed their doors in the summer of 2007. The problem is with the AC Adapter. I found a 12v power supply laying around the house, plugged it in, and the screen came on for a second or 2. I ordered a new supply today off ebay for $20.

Same problem with my 22 inch
NOTE - Effective November 16th, 2007, Computer World Solution, Inc. (trade name "X2Gen") sought relief as a debtor under Chapter 11 of the United States Bankruptcy. Website states you are SOL. Local repair shop appears to be only resource.

Hardware problem You need to take it to a shop or send it back to manufacturer.

SOURCE: Monitor Failure
Your system was not affected because the PSU can prevent power surges. Your monitor's backlight has went out due to surges in electricity to your monitor. Unfortunately, you can not replace the backlight. I would suggest you buy a new monitor. 19" LCD Monitors has have went down dramatically in the past month.

Usually answered in minutes!
Same problem. I opened it up and found no obvious issues (no discoloration, no broken leads or traces). So I'm stumped... I suspect a problem in the power circuitry, but don't have any way to narrow it down.
I have the same problem. I can't get in touch w/X2Gen for them to take a look at it.
I have the same problem too. Was working then it would just blink/flash the monitor and you can see the power light go on and off as it if was trying to recycle the power.
No one answers the telephone and their "website" on-line RMA does not work! Crappy service!
(22")I'm having the same problems with mine. My monitor has worked perfectly for over a year now, but just decided to start hissing at me and stop displaying picture last night. I actually noticed a slight tear on the cord from adapter to the monitor, but it is obvious the problem lies with the actual adapter itself. If you put it within a decent distance of your ear, you might notice a slight hissing noise. Hopefully a new adapter will fix this.
Well, I have been using a backup 17" for the past couple of months and my mobo just went dead, so I'm going to replace everything at once.
Can anyone point us(or me) towards that $20 adapter? As I can't seem to find one for cheaper than $40. I'm taking an awful gamble (hopefully its refundable) on a crappy product that might not even fix the problem.
Does anybody know if the new adapter fixed the problem as well!?
Thanks a bunch.
Great site (FixYa) - found it while surfing the AltaVista Search Engine (yes, I'm an old-time Netscape user, too) while entering the key-word in quotes "X2Gen" seeking a contact number for the company as my 19" WS monitor welcomed me home with the blinking power light and faint-light to dark flashing screen.
I noticed that the power supply light was also pulsating the same beats as the monitor screen and button, so I wiggled the power cord from wall to power supply, only to notice is was a very loose and unstable connection which also became the only way I could shut-off the monitor (unplug everything as the on/off button wouldn't do the job).
I'm somewhat glad to see others have similar issue (not having to be the only one) and I figured it was the power supply as well. However, how now do you get it fixed - I don't have a telephone number, it appears comments state company is in trouble, and I don't really want to throw-away something not even a year old yet!
Any info, please feel free to call me at (203) 235-0528 or e-mail [email protected] . Thanks Phil Viger, Meriden, CT
My problem may be similar. The green light on my Wearnes switching adapter is blinking green. My X2gen monitor is blank, the indicator light on my monitor is blinking amber color at the same rhythm as the adapter and the monitor is making a clicking sound. Could this be the adapter? Thanks for any advice!
