The remote does not turn on the Delphi XM Xpress on car unit

I have 2 delphi Xpress XM units that work great on home kit. But when I use them with car kit, the remote doesn't turn on the unit. I have to turn it on manually. However once turned on I can use the remote to navigate and also turn it off. I don;t have this issue with the home kit. I have tried testing the 2 units with the 2 different car kits and the same issue. Has anyone seen this? Thanks.

Thanks jonhamman. That's strange that this happens only with the vehicle units. Maybe they are trying to save the car battery from draining... Thanks again for your help.

This problem is caused due to the fact that xm has designed there radios to completely shut off all power with the unit therefore the unit once off will not be able to recieve information from the remote. This manufacturing defect was confirmed by the xm representative, they also explained that the company is currently planning to fix this issue on the new 2009 model xpress rc

I just purchased a new remote for my Delphi XMXpressRC. The remote won't operate any functions. My old remote still works but is worn out. Does the new one need to be programmed?

There is no programing necessary for the remote. Are you sure you have the correct remote? It should be this one: http://www.tss-radio.com/products/xm-universal-xpress-remote-control.

Does the remote you have operate anything on the receiver? If not, I would check the battery. (Maybe try swapping batteries with the old one to see if that makes a difference)

I have an older model radio.. Delphi Roady 2.. gets powe to the docking station to the removalable unit but screen display will not light up.. any suggestions???

Probably the cheapest solution is to buy a used Roady2 off online bidding service like ebay and then pay the $15 to XM to switch radios. Delphi no longer makes Roady2. Probably could not repair for a cheap as you can buy used radios (around $25).

New Delphi installation over older delphi car kit

Just installed the xpress RC in my Durango, replacing my SKYFi2. Both units are Delphi (all of the newer xpress RC's are made by Audiovox now, but Amazon sent me the Delphi made unit). Everything swapped out with the exception of the 12dc power cord. Had to use the one included in the new unit, plug size that goes in the new cradle for the RC is different. In the new unit I did get two "user guides" in Spanish and none in English (I wish America would adopt one friggin standard language. English) but other than that it was quick and painless.
