SOURCE: Emerson PDE-2725N DVD player

My PDE 2625n worked on the way to Mimi's and starting on the way home it displayed "Disk Loading..." then errord out with "Bad Disk". I dug through the internet and over 3 days found the answer.

Your laser is tired. Since the DVD player is cheap, replacing it is not worth the $$. Fix it! Remove the back cover (about 10 small phillips screws). It is important to know that their is a back plate AND a back panel; remove the PLATE which should have a model number sticker.

Now you should see a circut board with a set of polished rails which holds the read head. On the read head (by a ribbon cable ) are two very, very, very small flat blade POT screws. These control the amount of power sent to the laser. Turn the right most one CLOCKWISE about a 1/8 to 1/4 turn.

You can test your handy work by popping in a DVD while the cover is off and seeing if it loads. If all is ok, put it back together. If not turn it a little more. I used a car battery charger to run my test since it's about 25 degrees outside.

Be aware the more power sent to the laser, the faster it burns out (according to my research). By feeling is the DVD player is broke, so what? Am I going to break it? What the hell;) and I cranked away.

BTW I just got this fixed this morning. My kids are screaming with joy for DVD's in the car again! I'm thrilled that I don't have to spend $100 or more to replace this unit.

Cheers!

I also needed a new screen to screen power cord. Call 1-866-553-7521 and give them the model # PDE 2717. Ask specifically for the screen to screen power cord because the first cord the see when they do a look-up is the car to screen cord. The cost was $6.00 but adding in shipping brought the total to $15.99. Expect the delivery in 7 to 10 business days. Thanks and enjoy!

SOURCE: pde-2725n low battery

The battery is starting to die and needs replacement. It can no longer hold and store enough energy to power the player longer like before.

Emerson PDE-2717 portable DVD won't read disc

i believe it is related to power as this issue started on one of these after turning on both screens. i am still dealing with millenium 3000 over a purchase of the same unit. i am going to be trying a 4th unit 'when new stock arrives' but i doubt it.
