Check both of the Connectors (DS and AGB cartridge). It sounds like there is contamination. If these seem OK then it's sounds like it might be a thermal problem withthe circuit board. Call Nintendo.

No vacuum lock on fuel injection You have to diagnose the problem with a sequence of proper testing Check fuel pressure at the motor with a gauge Check for injector pulse & spark when it fails to start
If the fan start to increase in speed rapidly till
it's at full speed with in 3-5 min the G.P.U has lost
it's thermal seal to the heat sink .Some time if
the unit take a fall this can break that seal .
if the seal broke on the C.P.U. your unit would
go to two red almostimmediately , so i don't think it's
the C.P.U.
OK the fix is to open it up and press down firmly
and evenly on the heat-sink under the CD drive
that is the G.P.U.s heat-sink .This should re seat and
restore normal operation .
You might be getting ready to experience and E74 error or the RROD. I had 3 that did the same thing. The whine is the fans running 100% and then just turning off
