What do you mean by extra speakers? If you hooked more than one speaker up to one output, you probably blew the amp.

SOURCE: The left speaker of my

Try unplugging the right speaker and plugging the left speaker in the right port. If the speaker still sounds distorted then you know you have a brocken speaker. If it sounds normal then we know its not the speaker.

I have a denon avr-4802 receiver. I am looking to purchase new speakers for this system, but don't want to put too much into the speakers. Will the speakers from a denon s-302 work on this receiver? ...

Page 10. The S-302 uses a proprietary D-Sub25 system cable to the DSW-S302 subwoofer. Don't know if or why it has more than 2 active conductors. The other speakers have removable cable ends so they might work just fine.

Protection circuit momentary activation. Not heat/speaker problem

Is it possible for you to lower the source level? if yes go ahead...

There is an automatic Dialogue normalisation function in Denon which is activated to reduce overly bright input signals. ( most movies have wide variation in sound levels and therefore this function is avaialble). (see page45 of your user manual).

When your system worked fine with the AVR 2808CI, then why is it giving problem with AVR 3808CI....???? You must ask Denon.

Protection circuits are activated when:
1). There is rise of internal temperature.
2).Core wires of the speakers are touching each other or a core wire is sticking out of the terminal and touching the set's rear panel or the speaker itself has a problem.
3). Speakers with an impedance other than specified are being used.
or
4). the set is damamged or has bad solder / dry solder connection .

If your AVR is new, please do not accept, the set could be faulty. The protection circuits should not be activated unless any of the above happen.

You must know, at times the protection circuits are not fast enough and it could burn some of the transistors on the power output circuit. With time, the solders on the circuit board could give way and give you problems later on.

You must sort out with Denon if the AVR is under warranty.

Best of Luck.

No subwoofer signal

your out put signal circut bord is shorted out. It happens when there is static feed back from output continuity to an electric overload inside the unit. Then when you have a shorted board then it will eventually go into a protect mode and nothing will work ...just the power light will turn red and blink.

Just a suggestion.....Get rid of it while it has a bad sub output signal. you can get some money out of it.
I can always use extra parts for the other denons I work on....call me if you want...630-742-6587

I have Harman Kardon speakers and subwoofers connected to a Denon AVr 1508 receiver. All my five speakers are working but my subwoofer doesnt work. I m pretty sure I have connected the subwoofer properly...

There is a setting under your speaker setup to turn the subwoofer on. If speakers are set to small it auto matically sets the subwoofer to ON. If the speakers are set to large it turns the subwoofer off but you can manually adjust.

Protector flashing red when off.

If the speaker wires are shorted, it may be in protection mode. Try turning it on with no speakers attached.

If you've already done that and still have the same problem, it's broken and you should return it.

Subwoofer heard when only B speakers selected

This is really weird. Normally, the subwoofer must be turned off when you turn on B speakers. But, hold on.. I have recently tried to do the same thing as you do, and the result is the same as yours. The problem is that you have to turn off A speakers completely when you activate Bs. If you have an A/B Speakers switch, first push the A to turn them off, after that press "B" to listen to music downstairs. I hope it works.
