Take the mouse off of the computer. Turn it upside down on a piece of clean printer paper, so that the scroll ball is touching the paper. Roll it around briskly on the paper. This will help clean off the scroll ball.

Mouse won't scroll when rolling the middle button up and down

Mouse movement is controlled by either the device drivers (look for updates) or the settings. Check you operating system settings for the mouse and see if they are up-to-date. Other than that, is the device drivers and computer settings are correct, the mouse middle control is defective. Try to alternate with another mouse and see if that happens when using an alternate device. That is the test for a defective mouse.

Cant get the font to change on a web page that I somehow made smaller

Hello

OK, all you need to do is to hold down the "Ctrl" button on your keyboard. While you hold down the key, you need to scroll with your mouse button, If you have an external mouse plugged in, you just need to scroll with the middle mouse button. If you use the mouse pad on the laptop, the left side on the pad is usually the scroll function.

So...Just to be clear. Open your web browser. Hold down the "Ctrl" key on scroll up or down with your scroll function.

Hope this can be of help. Also, please do not hesitate to let me know if you need any further assistance.

Kind regards
Andrea

Apple super mouse scroll button will not operate. tried cleaning oil off of it with napkin & water but still did not help. A new super mouse works great. but need to repair malfunctioning mouse Any...

Try unplugging the mouse, take a paper towel dampened with rubbing alcohol, and with the mouse upside-down, rub the scroll ball on the paper towel.
Then try using compressed air (the spray cans available at electronics stores) and spray in the cracks around the ball.
There is a way to get these super mice open, but it isn't pretty and doesn't always work. I don't recommend opening up this mouse..
Another alternative is replacement... There's alot of aftermarket mice and almost all will work on your mac with just plugging them in...

The scroll button does not work: it scrolls up, but won't scroll down.

this is very common with these and something I have found myself. The ways to try and clean are to turn the mouse upside down and while it is clicked in, rub in the mouse ball in all directions and you should feel some dirt dislodge.

Alternatively you can wet a lint free cloth and do the same action. There are usually mixed results for this but at the momment this is the only way to at least try and fix it.

Usually rubbing the scroll ball upside down allows the dirt to fall out.

Good luck

(as an alternative small way around this, space bar does scroll down in macs but I know this is not ideal, but what I am stuck with at the mo!!)

Ipod nano 8GB doesn`t work

Hold down the middle button and the top of the scroll wheel until you see the apple symbol. Keep holding the middle button then hold down the bottom of the scroll wheel. This will reset the iPod so that it will work. If the scroll wheel is still not working, take it to the place you purchased it or if it is in the area, find a local Apple Store and take it to them. They will be able to assist as well.

Automatic scroll does not work on touchpad unless you hold down the left click button

This can be set to scroll for you as it is a simple setting in the mouse control panel.

Go to your start menu and open Control panel, select classic view in the top left corner if there are less than 20 icons(pictures) in the menu. Now double click on the mouse icon. Click on the advanced tab. then select your synaptec device in the list and click the properties button below.

There are several options on the menu, one will say "Virtual Scrolling"
Check the box beside Vertical Scrollong and then click OK on this window and the mouse window.

Close the control panel and you're on your way.

I hope this helps Fixya,

Chris

Logitech 8043770000 it do not respond to the button feature on left side which should enable me to schroll my chart down the screen

The scroll button should be the wheel. rolling back the wheel should scroll for you. you can also auto scroll by pushing down on the wheel and gently pulling the mouse backward. (faster you pull the mouse, faster it scrolls)

Scroll wheel no longer scrolls

Turn mouse off, get a clean sheet of paper, rub mouse wheel on paper on a smooth hard surface - this will clean any dirt preventing scrolling. Works for Blackberry trackballs as well - but be careful with scratching the screen.
