Although the camera was not engaged in downloading or uploading, but setting idle, I accidentally puuled the USB plug out of the computer while the camera was connected to the computer. Now when I turn the camera on, it will not operate and just has "Err" flashing on the LCD window, nor does it show up on the computer screen when connected. Is there a way of rebooting the camera?
Thanks!
I have the same SYSTEM ERROR message, after disconnecting from the USB cable, even doing the safe disconnect procedure. I cannot get the camera to responed to any inputs. Is there a "reset" button, or method to perform a sytem reset. Re: Stuck in Error mode
Shut if off- remove the battery- let it sit a while then try- operating the camera.
It is possible that pulling the cord caused a voltage 'spike' which would have done it no good at all.

The "USB mode" and "Connecting to Mass Storage" message will get displayed when the Camera is connected to the Computer and is recognized by the Computer as a Mass Storage device. This is not an error message and is a normal operation.
You can change the Mass Storage settings in the Camera (depends on the model) The USB Select or USB Connect option in the Camera can be changed to PTP, Mass Storage or PictBridge mode. Set the option in the Camera to PTP and connect it to the Computer and check if the Computer is recognizing the connection. Once the computer is recognized, it appear as a removable Drive.
You can transfer the images from the Camera to the Computer from the Removable Drive by copying and pasting.
You may have switched USB mode to Pictbridge by mistake.
Press Menu/OK, select Setup, choose USB mode (on 3rd page) switch from Pictbridge to DSC, press OK.
Hey peewack65, According to the manufacturer this message means that the camera is not connected to the computer properly, which could be due to a faulty USB cord. I would also make sure your drivers have not been accidentally deleted, and you could try updating your drivers. Another option is to upload your images from your memory card to the computer using a card reader that plugs into a USB port. I hope this helps! Sincerely, Allan Go Ahead. Use Us.
What is ptp utility new to me.
I suggest the first thing to do is if you have the software from the disk loaded - you un install it.
Restart the computer - plug camera in and set it to upload mode. Windows scanner/Camera Wizard will take you along from there.
If it does not change the USB port.
Come back with the next move
Heat and batteries - maybe
Try another battery
Remove camera software from computer and put the disk in the box.
Plug camera in switch it on and set it to upload mode
Windows should find it as a new drive or[XP/2000/ME] will put up camera/scanner wizard.
okay ive had my a345 since christams and all has been good until recently when i tryed to upload my pictures. the camera when plugged in will say "checking usb" then it will say "communication error" something will come up and say "choose program to upload photos" and there isnt a program is it because i set my computer back and dont have the cd? i download picasa but it still wont upload.help please.
Wat are you plugging the camera into?
Is it the computer direct or a Hub?
Remove all USB devises and plug the camera direct to the PC
Make sure the camera is switched on and is set to the 'upload' position.
