I am now really frustrated! I just purchased and replaced the convergence board which was purchased from Baldwin Electronics. My tv worked for about a minute. Then...a horrible blue and shaky shadow overtook the screen. What could be the problem? Should I get a new convergence board or refund since it didn't give me the results I was looking for?

Ur tv convergence board that was replaced for ur tv.The 2 STK convergence ICS was old it is not new it is those 2 STK convergence ICS on the tv convegence board is dead again and some of the resistors on the board maybe shorted and dies also must replaced too.The tv convegence board was put on ur tv those parts on the convergence board are old components parts,ur must repair tv convergence board again to fixed this problems called convergence pictures problems.
No.Fix.Tv have dead parts on the tv convergence board.Tv colors lines R,G,B mis alignment, can't move any colors lines. The tv convergence board the 2 STK convergence ICS and some or all it resistors are dead on the tv convergence board. These parts, must be replaced on the tv convergence board to solved the tv picture convergence problems. The shop, will cost u like $300-350 for parts and labors.

I understand your frustrations, and if you did the work yourself you can feel really bad. In this case if you really want to save this TV, I would suggest you visit Union Electronics. And purchase a reworked replacement board. In many cases this is the best route to go and the price is reasonable. Call them at 1 800 648 6657. I have had very good luck with this company! And these boards are guaranteed, ask for the lenghth allowed. Have your TV model # and tell them you are looking for the convergence board. Thanks for asking!
There is not a Service code to Enter into convergence on this set , on convergence board there is a switch on the very front of board WITH set on press and hold 3secs you should see convergence Pattern Appear after you release button. From the Front of TV remove Bottom cover then you will be able to see whole chassis, and the Little Blue contact switch.on same board you replaced ICs.
SINCE YOU HAVE REPLACED THE CIRCUIT BOARD,THE NEXT STEP WOULD BE CHECKING VOLTAGES GOING TO THE CONV. BOARD COMING FROM THE POWER SUPPLY CIR. BOARD.....IF NO VOLTAGE METER,,SOMETIMES, THERE ARE FUSES ON THE POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT BOARD THAT SUPPLY THE NEEDED VOLTAGES FOR THE NEW BOARD YOU JUST REPALCED...UNPLUG THE SET,,CHECK FOR A BLOWN FUSE----I THINK THERE IS 2 OF THEM--ONE FOR A NEGATIVE VOLTAGE AND ONE FOR A POSTIVE VOLTAGE FOR THE CONVERGENCE BOARD..GOOD LUCK--SORRY, MIGHT NEED A TECH...TUNICA
since two colors are affected I would suggest checking the solder on the convergence power supply. If the solder is good you will most likely need a new power supply. The power supply board is the one without all the heatsinks next to the convergence board
I had the same problem on my Hitachi rear projection TV 53FDX20B made in Mexico. The blue convergence problem. Blue focus had shifted and appeared like a blue ghost image. I followed the step by step intructions from the fixya site. First Replaced the two STK 392-110 ICs and turned on the tv. No change. Then I went looking for the bad resistor. There was one resistor RK50 (2.7 ohm, 1Watt capacity) which is attached not right close to the printed circuit board surface but was well raised up from the board. The bands on the resistor were a little discolored. I replaced that one and turned on the tv. The convergence problem was solved. Thanks for the step by step instrucitons on your site.
