For this print server it will not support any other function of the printer other than the printing part. If you are trying to use the scanner look for multifunction print server.

Depends on the print server. You can get print servers that specifically allow for this. They generally refer to them as multifunction print servers. If yours isn't one of those, then no, you can't.

I have a canon mp180 and I want to set it up wirelessly do I need to purchase new software to do so or is there a way to do it without

It is notpossible to connect this printer wirelessly to your wireless network because it only has an USBconnection to a computer, unless you attach this printer to a print server andthen to a wireless router.
Alternatively you can set up this printer as a Shared printer on a computer onyour 10baseT LAN network. Other computers on your network can then printer tothis printer provided the computer with the printer is switched on (booted up).

Error 5100

Issue: ERROR: Service error 5100 appears while printing from the computer

1. Allow print head to cool down
2. Disconnect and reconnect the USB cable to ensure a secure connection
3. Press ON/OFF switch to reset the multifunction device
4. Reseat ink cartridge (MP160 / MP180 / MP460)
5. The MP180 may require repair

Try the above..

Using D-link dp-300 Printer Canon ImargeClass MF4350d (Multifunction printer) Problem. I can not use scanner fanction. (no problem for printer) Without printer server, I able to use the scanner.

Hi,

The problem you are having is pretty standard, the IP based printing works for most printers but the scanner require direct(or well faked, direct) connectivity with a USB port which most routers do not provide.

Several companies including Startech and Io Gear make Virtual USB devices which would resolve the issue.

How they work differs as instead of creating an IP printer, the usb device installs on an ip and then a driver you install on your PC(s) connect to the unit over the router and sets up a virtual USB port on your machine so you can re-install the printer as a local printer attached to what it thinks is a local USB port.

Doing this will allow you all functionality the printer offers but will slow down printing and scanning a bit

Hope this Helps,

Chris

Canon mp160 drivers

Follow this link. When you get there, choose these options:

1) Multifunction
2) Inkjet
3) Pixma + your model number. Then click ok. Then just choose your operating system and it will give you a list of everything you want to download. Just go back and repeat for your other printer.
