No, its easy to do it yourself. You should not have too much of an issue. I would stick to a factory keyboard to avoid any incompatibility issues.

Have you ever worked on a desktop machine? Laptops are much more difficult, because everything is small and has to squeeze into exactly the right spot. However, if you feel confident in your ability to follow directions, the instructions on replacing it should be in this Manual: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c00291986.pdf Read it over, if it sounds like something you can manage, I say go for it. I replaced my first computer components with no guidance whatsoever. It's not as hard as most people think.

HP ZD8000 pavillion notebook...cursor issues

You just need to replace the keyboard and or the palmrest assembly.

It's a hardware issue that's all.

Post another question to see if someone has a service guide for this model.

Or google to see if you can find one yourself.

Parts are relatively cheap and easy to find on eBay.

Problem with the laptop keyboard (HP pavilion zd8000)

Firstly give yout keyboard a hoovering gently, then if no change it could be the keyboard driver, this will be either on a recovery disc supplied with the laptop or on a recovery partition on your harddrive. You won't need to do a complete recovery, just a re instalation of the keyboard driver
