Please try re-seating the hard drive.

If you look at the bottom of your laptop, along the edge there should be a screw larger then all the rest which holds a small panel. Remove this screw and panel. Remove the drive pulling lightly, with steady pressure, straight out. Place the drive back in and screw the panel back.

We had a lot of these issues, and they were often solved by just this manner alone.

Let us know if we have to go any further.
Good luck

Re: 2100: Detection error on HDD0 (Main HDD)

It is telling you that there is a problem with your hard drive. If you know how to get to your bios screen and have a recovery CD you should be able to restore it. That is IF the hard drive is in fact not defective. Otherwise you will need to to take it to someone who does computer repair and either let them replace the hard drive or depending on your ability do so yourself or purchase another laptop

I installed a new WD 500GB hard drive in an HP Pavilion 513n as a master and have a 60 GB hard drive as a slave for backup data. Both are set to auto in the BIOS. Every time I turn the computer on even...

I think, in BIOS setting your first booting device is the 60GB HDD. change it to HDD0 as 1st boot, CD Drive as 2nd boot and HDD1 as third boot device and it would not ask any error report.

Booting problem with my hp pavillion dv6000

it seems there is a problem with detection of hard disk drive.

as soon as you turn on the laptop press F1 key to enter the BIOS and check there to see if the hard drive is detected or not. If F1 doesnt take you into BIOS try F2.

PXE-E61 Media Test Failure Check Cable on compaq presario 2100

A PXE-61 error message is most likely a faulty hard disk.
Try reseating the hard drive first and if you still get this error message again then you need to replace the hard disk.
To boot up with the CD you maybe able to press the F12 function key when you power up the laptop, this will bring up the a menu option to select an alternate boot device. If this option is not available then go into the BIOS configuration and change the bootup order and make the CD as the first boot device and the hard disk as the second device. You can can it back later.
