Hi

there will be lots of reasons that computer is not detecting the wireless network
1. you can check teh firewall or any anti virus might be blocking it
2. you can check teh wireless switch must be ON
3. you can also check teh wireless card must be enable
4. last you can try to reinstall the wireless card
5. still if you are not able to see it then you can try to change teh wireless settings like channel and security type on teh router

I hope that will resolve your concern

Thanks
Harmeet :)

I have a PS3 in one room and my computer and internet in another. I have bought a wireless router but it is hooked up in the room with the computer. I don't want to have to run a cable to the other end of...

Check your wireless network name in your computer if it is wireless enabled.
Then go to your PS3. Go into the network settings and check if the wireless connection is detected.
When you check the network settings, make sure that ip and dns settings are set to automatic.
After that you would need to open some ports on the comp for your PS3 so that you can play online.
Also let us know the make and model no of your router so that we could tell how to open the ports on the router GUI.
Very first thing your PS3 should detect the wireless connection on it.

The wireless light on my belkin router is not lit up. i can connect to the internet on my house computer. but my laptop gets no internet. please help. how do i get the light turned back on? and ive...

1. In the address bar of your Internet browser, type "192.168.2.1". Then press the "Enter" key.

2. It will prompt for a password to access the Router’s Web-Based Advanced User Interface. By default the password is blank.

3. Click the Wireless tab.
- SSID: This is the wireless network name of your router. You can change it so that you may easily identify your own wireless network.
- Wireless channel: no need to change it, just take note of which wireless channel your router has.
- Wireless mode: Make sure it is not off. Select the wireless mode that your wireless computer has.
- Broadcast SSID should be checked so that the wireless computer will detect the signal from the router.
Take note: If you made changes on your router make sure you click Apply changes to save the changes.

4. Go to Security, then Wireless.
- Check the wireless security settings, this should match the settings on your wireless computer.

5. On the wireless computer, you should detect SSID and if wireless security is enabled, connect to it with the correct security keys.

Hope this helps! Good luck!

Sometimes this problem occures when you install a later model wireless router.
Try installing the latest Wireless card driver on the XP computer and the LAN card drivers on the other computers except the MAC.

Wirelss router not working

I don't think it needs to be replaced. have you installed the installation disk that came with it, if so

if you have windows
1. go to my computer
2. click on the my network places tab on the left panel
3. then click set up a wireless network for a home or small office
4. then jut follow the wizard set by set.

if that doesn't work, make sure your computer's wireless adapters are able to pick up your router's N broadband signals. if not you might need to go out and buy wireless N adapters for all your computers.

Computer says that a network cable is disconnected

This could either be the router or the computers network card. Both can be blown by lightening strikes / storms. If you have a laptop or another computer try connecting this, or asking a friend to try there laptop - this will tell you if it is the router or the network card.
Either way - a new router is £10 and a new network card is also about £10 off eBay.

Acer with Windows Vista does not connect to Internet

You're laptop needs to have a profile for the router. Go to Network and Sharing Center, Manage Wireless Networks. Please remove all the listed networks there. Now click on Add, then Add a Network in Range of this Computer. Select the wireless name of your router and connect. If it asks for a network key, please type your wireless security key then connect. That should do it.

Laptop could not detect linksys on second day

Jatman,

Couple of things you can try here:

1) Connect your laptop (or another computer if possible) to the router using a network cable. You should then be able to see your configuration info. Make sure that the computer you are using to connect (wired) to the router is set up to use DHCP. Once in there, depending on what you find, you might be able to fix it yourself.

2) Factory reset the router and go through the setup options as if it were brand new.

Hope this helps.

Not detecting any wireless networks

You have not mentioned having a wireless router or access point to serve as the hub on an infrastructure network. I you have a router please let me know -- the instructions for the solution changes.

The following is an article to create an ad hoc network between wireless cards without a wireless access point or a router. If you ignore the steps about connecting to the internet with a wired connection and the internet sharing instructions. This will allow your machines with wireless adapters to communicate with each other (assuming the operate on a common band). The article goes on to indicate one machine with a wired connection can act as the "router" for the other two when it is on to allow them share internet access with the wired machine (the wired machine also needs a wireless card for this to work).
