Washing machine will not spin motor runs
Need to remove the drum from a top load roper washer. Do I need a spanner wrench?

Sounds like the motor to transmission coupling is broke. Pretty easy to fix. UNPLUG THE WASHER!!!
Standing in front of the washer, you'll see two screws on either side of the control panel... remove these then flip the control panel over. Now, toward the right side, you'll see a wire harness that plugs into the top of the top panel, disconnect this. Now, on either side of the top panel, you'll see two brass colored clips. Take a screwdriver and poke it into the hole, use it as a pry bar. Pry the handle of the screwdriver toward the wall behind the washer, the clip will pop out. Now tilt the entire cabinet of the washer toward you to about a 45 degree angle then lift it out of there and set it aside out of the way for now.
OK, now we're into the guts of the washer... Look below and in the center, you'll see the drain pump (it has 2 big hoses attached). Behind that, you'll see the motor... that's what you'll be taking off.
On the right side of the motor, you'll see the electrical connections. Remove the long white one from the motor. (CAUTION!!! THIS NEXT STEP MUST BE DONE, OTHERWISE PERSONAL INJURY MAY RESULT!!!) You'll see a black round thing mounted to the motor on the right hand side, this is the capacitor. It has 2 red wires on it. (It's basically a 120 volt battery that is just waiting for you to touch it so it can shock you, badly) THIS MUST BE DISCHARGED (voltage drained off) BEFORE CONTINUING. Remove the 2 wires using insulated needle nose pliers. Now, discharge the cap by touching both terminals of the cap at the same time with your needle nose pliers. This will discharge the capacitor so it's safe to handle.
Now, above and below the motor, you'll see 2 clips mounted on it, remove the screws that keep these clips in place then (with a flat head screwdriver) pry the clips off the motor. The motor and pump will drop out of there. Rotate the whole thing off to the left (with the hoses still attached to the pump).
Now you can see the broken coupling (compare the old one and the new one). Pry the old pieces off the motor shaft and the transmission shaft and throw 'em away. Install the new coupling (notice the semi-triangular shape of the inside of the plastic coupling? I use my screwdriver handle... poke the handle into the coupling, place the coupling squarely on the shaft, then tap [don't BANG] it home with a hammer) and rebuild in the reverse order of dis-assembly!

Without knowing the make there are 3 parts that could be at fault 1)has the motor got carbon brushes these u will find by looking for a wire going to each sides off the motor which go into a plastic covering that surrounds the carbons if these are lower than8ml in length than they need replacing if these r ok than2)its your motor if the motor does not have carbon brushes then the washer will have a module which tells the motor how much power to use its about 4in in length 2in in heigth and will be a circuit board let me know what make it is m8

SOURCE: Wash machine will not spin
sounds like a problem with the coupling between to motor and the gearbox!

SOURCE: GE washing machine, wont spin
Same problem (but without any smell). You should try to reset the two computer boards in the washer. You do this by 1) unplugging machine and wait for 30 secs; 2) plug in machine; and 3) open and fully close the lid at least 5 times. This resets computer boards, which can get messed up by power surges, etc.

sounds like it will spin or aggiatate but doesn't spin not even freely..
The motor does not always kick in, but if one releases it, it runs normal, it is beyond my experience to determine the problem
After the wash cycle completes it stops and buzzes like it's trying to rinse and spin but it does not. It just buzzes, stops, buzzes, stops. I have unplugged for 1/2 hour and replugged but it does not want to do anything beyond agitate in the wash cycle. No rinsing, no spinning. I was washing a set of king sized sheets and a few pieces of underwear on the regular cycle. I removed everything, but no luck. It will fill, but that's all. It's only 6 months old. When this first happened I thought I smelled something. Rubber? Of course it is the New Year's Holiday weekend and cannot get any service reps to call me.
i have the same problem on rinse and spin but washing it only gos one way
Clothes are soaking wet at end of the cycle. It drains but doesn't spin (sometimes or maybe not that good or fast?) The machine will spin, sometimes it won't. I think it's getting worse. Wife said there was a smell in the beginning, but gone now. With the lid open, she presses the switch and starts spinning the tub herself. It starts to spin but seems it doesn't spin fast as before problem began. In the past, she says it even locked up and would have to turn it back to turn it forward to get it started. What could it be? I test it without a load and it spins every time. Hmmm....
My washing machine agitates and drains but will not spin.
I have a HAIER XQJ50-31B l put the washing maching on when l went out l have done this loads of times before no problem, when l came back the machine was finnished or so l thought. The agitor l can hear it moving but the drum that it sits in that usually spins is not spinning. l looked under the machine and the belt works its not broken, what can l do. thanks
My washer sounds like it's spinning, however the drum is not moving. What is the problem?
My washer fills up but will not spin at all. I have replaced the the door control. It still doesn't spin. Model#FTF530F50 Frigidaire front loader.
Thanks,
Jaime
