Reset the phone meter

if it is saved with different names in phone and sim it doesnt show the name once check it and try...

try to do a master reset on the phone,make sure he has saved his contacts and photos,

there may be promlem in ur contact setting so try this.....

go to contact option then open setting

there may be many options like contact view e.tc
u choose in these option "name and number"

THIS WORKS!! This will erase ALL phone numbers saved by text messaging. Go to tools and settings... Select settings.... Select more.... Select security.... Enter lock code, if you have not changed it, it is either 0000, or the last 4 numbers of your phone number... select erase reset... Select erase messages... Select yes. You have no saved numbers under text messaging if you followed these steps. My pleasure.

Click on messaging icon from main menu.
Click send message.
Instead of clicking text message click on pic/video message.
then you have 4 options TO: CONTACTS , TO Mobile#, To Email, And finally To Recent lict. Click on recent list and checkmark all the numbers you want deleted then click options bottom right corner then click delete.....

i think u can solve this out by master reseting the phone but not sure!
master reset is clearing everything of the phone and returning it to how it was new! (this canot cause any damage)

If this is for a Verizon phone:
Menu -> Messaging -> Settings -> All Msg -> Auto Erase

Set it to on and select OK.

If you go back in and set it back to off, you should now be able to send text messages!

delete any mgs saved on your simcard and also try doing a master reset

this might be a network thing because that is the only way it works here in Australia.
All txt msgs are number only ID
